You need something more substantive.

there are two sides to that coin, of course... i'm not sure the burden of proof is on me, especially since i'm just reporting the claims of others

What about the 20 locked threads from last night that empirically do nothing mentioned on the "against the rules" list?

i didn't see all the threads, but i did note the NMV was noting why he was locking threads.

and note that whether or not he was correct with those locks is a separate discussion -- the point is that he thought he was doing his job.

Actually, a lot of the mods don't disagree. But a lot of the mods don't feel bound by the actual rules. They feel free to invent their own.

but i'm specifically talking about the mods that come in here and piss you guys off.

they're convinced they're just doing their job, right?

lmfao no, not at all. Most of the time they're trolling users they dislike.

Going to have to tend to agree with this. Stickying threads about Cobra Kai, and unstickying threads that were already in place, then deleting any thread asking about it seems pretty far from "trying to uphold the forum rules".

So if I nuke canada and say I felt that it was my duty as a patriotic american it means I actually think it was my duty as a patriotic american?

please refer to the PM convo I posted with him where he blatantly admits that he was not following any sort of rules.

well, my main proposal was to a segregation... so whichever way works.

i think a GG forum is an excellent compromise, but don't be surprised if the opposition feels the same way you guys do about "their" forum.

But like I said, it is, and always has been how it is.

People that get promoted up, and demand that the culture, community, and forum change because they don't like it is ridiculous. I don't like how USAPL is...dead and only posts are congratulating each other for their excellent dotball tactics. If I get a player in USAPL, should I start demanding that changes are made?

Can I take an opportunity to point out that Hobos got promoted up and effected change because Dong were a shower of retards?

You can, but you'd be wrong.

at a minimum, i hope there's at least some empathy for the poor neophyte who doesn't have that much internet experience and just wants to enjoy the game they're paying for. i'm not sure it does them any favors to ruin their day... nor should that even be their fault.

I do have empathy, and I'm often kind to the newcomers. The exception being the raging douches. I'm working on my Ghandi level, but I'm not quite up to forgiving tooldom.

But, as AD keeps screaming at you, I'd love examples. I think people are interpreting the incoming stimuli as hate/day ruination because it's different than what they're used to, but the only people that receive harsh treatment are the SIs of the world.

Keep in mind that catullus is just being a catalyst (lol) for opposing views. Let's not get too feisty towards him.

Exactly.

People can come into CPL and have a blast. It's the people who choose not to, but want to change it to something else that are the problem. CPL isn't like other league forums...why should it be forced into being the same as other league forums? If you don't like it, don't post there.

Look at all of the other leagues my players are in...I don't like the league forums since they are boring as fuck, dead as hell, and only about dotball rankings.

If you're going to make the argument, the burden of proof is indeed on you. Because it isn't worth paying it any heed if they have no reason and are lying about being offended and, in fact, just trolling out of spite themselves.

If you can provide examples of what it being railed against, of innocent users being harassed, it would be much easier to discuss, because I maintain that that very, very rarely happens.

For the record, I'm fine with a GG CPL forum, but I don't think the "opposition" would be.

I honestly think a lot of the hate is extremely exaggerated views of the forum, along with being a little bit uptight and douchey. I mean really...bitching about someone saying fuck? You don't have anything better to do?

I mean, people say "A, AA, and AAA were great forums"...then you go and look, and they get about 10-15 posts a day, and 3/4 of them are filled with subtle insults, and condescending remarks. The only difference is, one is about dotball, and the other is in response to that person bitching about the forum.

Can they really expect to go into a forum, rant about how terrible it is, insult everyone and call them childish, then freak the fuck out when they get told to eat a bowl of dicks? People can come into CPL and get along just fine. Chessey and r87 are fairly good examples. I think most of the people who can't do so either take the internet/dotball WAY too seriously, or have decided that they hate the forum before they even read an entire thread, and either decide that they always hate it, or that they are going to "make a stand" to try and change it...which is usually them trolling and insulting everyone.

very true... and several forums (especially certain PFs) are victims of this as well.

and i think it's well-established that the CPL is active... no one's questioning that or the virtue of that activity. the pivotal issue here is that the CPL is only enjoyable for some of the league that it supposedly represents... and other people find it incredibly irritating.

there's a reason why this is a constant issue... so i don't think it works to throw up a false caricature of the opposition and blame it all on them. in situations like this, timelines are important -- it also doesn't work to look at a person who now is completely enraged and ignore the fact that they weren't always that way.

and here's another question: is there anything wrong with people taking dotball so seriously? isn't that precisely the sort of customer that bort should want to cultivate? that doesn't mean that they're hypersensitive or anything (cf. false caricature)... it just means they would seriously rather talk about dots than swap memes. so is there a place for them? shouldn't the league forum (by default/definition) be that place?

i'm not saying that the CPL should be evicted... i'm saying that the opposition isn't automatically wrong/childish/etc for disagreeing.

I mean, me too, but, tbh, it doesn't really matter. It *is* a business, and if people have this perception, founded or unfounded, Bort will eventually yield to it (oh, hey, look, we're here already).

Also, that's exactly why I quit modding in the first place. Not a fan of being beholden to the malformed perceptions of the crazykins.

Well catallus of course they have a right to post whatever they want in CPL, especially if they actually have a team or player there. However, when they (lookin at u FLgator) proceed to troll threads demanding that people stop dropping the F-bomb...well that right there is crossing the line sir.
