Everyone enjoys Bear's rankings, even though we hardly ever agree with them 100%.

i get that. But other people in previous Power Ranking threads have disagreed about his rankings and we've moved on...mainly because Bear explains his reasoning.

I just brought something up and he went chernobyl. He went on a tirade about how i was crying and that a sub 500 team really doesn't even matter, so how dare i even bitch because after all, i was 5-7. Read the first 10 posts after I initially posted and you'll see i was just making a statement and asking a question. I followed up my comments by reaffirming that I too enjoy the power rankings and the mid-all american stuff....otherwise i would have never commented on it.

I'm sorry i asked a question about the reasoning of someone's power rankings. I just figured he'd be the one to ask and that this would be the place to ask.

I'm sorry if i came across as crass, but if you look at his initial first couple of posts directed at me and my team...he's pretty brutal about sub .500 teams' relevance in this league.

Last time i checked, even the crappy teams are here to enjoy themselves and get just as excited on game day. I apologize that my excitement about my team's effort yesterday made me or my team appear callous.

But to put it in perspective, if the grizzlies beat the florence tigers in a week or so, do you think they would place themselves above or below the tigers in the power rankings after the win? And that was the only thing i was saying.

Bomb while I think your first posts came out a bit harsh with calling the power rankings bullshit and all, you've still got a bit of a point.
But with your logics, if the Knights or the Bayhawks won over the Pewnts they'd have to get the number one spot, simply because they won against the pewnts who are currently at that position and they can't be positioned lower than a team they beat the same week. Even though we all know they're not. (fictionally speaking, no offence to the teams)
Bears should apologize for insulting the Hangovers standing and disregarding your oppinion just because of your score, which was a bit immature.
And think you owe Bears an apology for being an asshat (in some)of your first couple of posts, you could've used less offensive wording if it wasn't your intention to insult him.

Also Bears please don't stop with the power rankings, they're fun and something to look forward to after every game. Sets this league apart from most others who just have pure statistical rankings without the quirky comments.

BEARS you need to keep the rankings coming man. There fun and stir the pot.

I personally enjoy the power rankings and the website. They are a good indication of what other teams think about your team right or wrong. I, as defensive co-oridinator for the Sin, would like to see us in the top 5. In reality we have a lot to prove to move up and until the playoffs come around we are swimming in stagnant water. Instead of complain about where WE think WE should be ranked, I enjoy the read (its fun between games and game planning), throw a few comments out in the forums and generally try and take others beliefs into consideration. When there are 32 teams to be ranked there are gonna be mistakes (they only have a couple of hours to rank them) and if there are mistakes its their website...

Bears thanks for the time and effort and I, for one, would like to see the power rankings continue as it certainly is entertaining and livens this forum...

If Florence only loss was to us all season...then no, i would not rank them higher than us...plain and simple...

His posts are directed at YOU, and you happen to be on a sub .500 team. His point is teams in the middle of the pack shouldnt really care where they fall cuz ur just fodder. Its sad but its true.

Actually, I'd do them in a heartbeat if I thought I wasn't going to be subjected to a third-grade flame war. I care very much about what I do here, the fact that my team has an 0-12 record is more due to a late entry in the game and being dealt a pretty bad hand.

We know we suck right now, so really, everybody can stop dancing around that, it's OK. Nobody's taking offense here, I had a pretty good idea what the problems would be when I took over this team a couple weeks ago and as far as my players, they had their eyes open from the start too.

Honestly, I'd rather have an 0-12 team and the guys I now have, every single one passionately committed to building an eventual winner, than have a 12-0 or 11-1 or 9-3 team chock-full of people pissing and moaning about whether they're #4 or #5. On my team, the people who tried to create drama found their asses on the pavement. Might have cost us chemistry, might have even cost us a win or two, but I need character much more than I need wins right now. The wins will come later.

So if anyone thinks they should feel sorry for the Knights, don't. Reading this thread and the whining back and forth, I think *we* might even feel sorry for *you*.

Someone has to be the bad guy right? I might have been an ass to an extent, but no more so than Bears. I had a legitimate question, i felt, and it never got answered. Everyone else has since accused me of being a jackass, not due to my question, but due to Bears saying, 'screw it, no more power rankings'. So that pissed you guys off and someone had to be the sacrificial lamb. I mentioned earlier that this was snowballing out of control and it could have been easily remedied by ANY explanation that Bears would have given. I didn't want divine enlightenment to his thought process, i was just curious about one thing.

I wasn't 'crying' about the positioning of my team, i was hoping that Bears knew what power rankings were as compared to someone's overall record.

He made the argument that someone's overall record should be figured into the overall Power Rankings. But that's not what Power Rankings are. I hope everyone understands that. Power Rankings are for teams on the move. Hot teams. Strong teams. Teams that are doing better (at the moment) vs. other teams with similar opponents. Records are done away with in an attempt to read between the lines of teams actual strength vs. the deceptive nature of someone's record due to strength of schedule (or lack thereof).

The original post WAS NOT about my team's positioning. I was not crying about my team, i was asking if he understood the concept of power rankings in an attempt to make his power rankings better. That's why i truly wanted people to go back and read this whole shebang.

I'm sorry if a lot of you pegged me wrong, but i seriously think most of you got caught up in Bear saying that he's gonna quit doing these power rankings at the first sign of a disagreement.

I have apologized, yet still get slammed...he's yet to back off his elitist position, yet he gets heralded. I don't mind, really. I'm just throwing out a last ditch attempt to show some of you that i really wasn't some forum nazi attacking this guy.

I was trying to post an example, wasn't trying to pity you or look down on you. Maybe I should've just excluded names and used positions. Sorry.

Also I doubt anyone would flame you if you did some power rankings of your own. Yeah sure, it's tough to be in the bottom of the barrel but I'd like to think people are more mature than that. And after all it's just a game, so enjoy!
