Sad to say, I'm not interested really... I say go big or don't play any league.

Honestly SEAPL is one of the few leagues rated below APL, at least in the eyes of a lot of GLB. I see nothing to gain from this match up. Their problem is a huge amount of gut jobs recently, and each day actually gets worse for APL with the same problem it seems

Agree.

Pretty sad. Why do you need "something to gain" from a match? When did having a good time and bragging rights cease to be enough?

I never said WEPL was worse than SEA. Actually I have always thought WEPL was better than SEA.

You are the one who brought up the PIMPs thing...

actually it should be noted that g-bay-be brought the PIMPs into this as seen here

I could go down the street and kick the crap out of the 13 year olds in a home run derby and brag all I want, but what fun is that? If I were to beat guys that play college baseball in a home run derby, there would be much more fun in that.

So, having a good time and gaining braggin rights very important.

I didn't realize you would get so butt-hurt about your scrub league, either

I'm not butt hurt, I'm just kind of shocked that Africa is acting like South America lol

We will play anyone in any League, I don't care who we play.
Let me know after all the bickering is over & we'll be there.

Of course ASM & LSP play every season & we had a classic game earlier today ...

http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=455287

We really wanted to get a look at a couple of things with both teams, so that's why the Pelicans threw the ball so much, but it was still a great game to watch.

Oh? You mean some APL guys went to the SEAPL forums acting like complete morons?

And yes, in recent discussion in the ranking forum, APL is no longer considered the weakest of the bunch to many of the people in that forum, that's what I was referencing when I said "in the eyes of GLB".

nah I just meant that i got the vibe that APL thought they were to good to play SEAPL which is a common theme with SA.

Great attitude. This I can respect.

This not so much. SEA throws down the gauntlet in the name of fun and bragging rights, and you walk away with your tail between your legs because you're afraid some of the power rankers on Sam's committee might look poorly on APL if you guys lose to us.

Well, I can tell you I was on that committee for a while and it's determined pretty subjectively. People are homers for their own leagues and besides a handful of inarguably great teams the squads that get recognition due so on account of people promoting them loudly and repeatedly. Popularity contests have never had much appeal for me, but if that's your thing, than so be it.

But I can't argue with your logic of not wanting to compete with us: You can't lose if you never try. (you can't win either, but that doesn't seem to be of much importance to you).

For me, I’d have fun if we won or lost… it’s the competition and the camaraderie that’s the fun part. If you guys change your mind, or if enough African teams want to play, post away and we’ll put something together.

I can't speak for jdawg, but I would say he would be in agreement that Seychelles will play anyone.

First off, you've been reading too many of shevegas's posts. I don't control anything in APL, other than the team I own. What I say is purely my opinions, which weigh exactly 1/32 of any APL "vote". If APL wants to play SEAPL, I'd be happy to comply. LOL hasn't ever backed away from ANY team, and I can assure you there's not a team in SEAPL we wouldn't play. We might not win, but we definitely aren't the type to back away from any challenge. That said, I can't say the same about SEAPL, as they've had teams continually decline invites to scrimmage games (tourneys, etc).

Also, with the number of large tournaments in GLB now, and the ever increasing number of teams in those tourneys, I don't think there will be enough time to play more than one "Region vs Region" challenge next season (again, just my opinion). If that's the case, I think there's a couple other conferences that would be better choices than SEAPL. That was my point. Hell, I GM and have players on ESL. I'm definitely not dissing SEAPL

And where was SEAPL with these region vs region matches when APL was dead last in the rankings and no one wanted to play us? Cuz for damn sure your league never came calling. Guess you didn't have anything to gain then either huh

That's cool Hokiemon, I think I understand your position a little bit more. Time constraints are certainly an issue with all the tourneys, etc. I just find these Pro vs Pro things fun, so I was figuring we could get something going. Being the owner of one of APL's top teams, your opinion does carry some weight here I'm sure, and I was hoping I could sway/goad/convince you in favor of it.

Last season SEAPL played two other regions, SAPL and WEPL... which is pretty good considering competing schedules and other scrimmage commitments, etc. Like you said yourself, I can't speak for the other 32 teams, but avoiding leagues for whatever certainly didn't enter my mind. We didn't play anybody this year, and I think some of us in SEA were missing the opportunity. We discussed which regions we've played already, which ones we hadn't, and which ones might be a good match. Most of us felt that an APL-SEAPL contest was intriguing and that's how this got going.

When we played SAPL and WEPL we had 15+ teams per region competing, which was pretty awesome. I understand some teams have a lot of commitments and other reasons to avoid playing, but even if we got something small going I think it'd be fun.

ps. Haven't a clue on the Shevegas reference, I'm pretty clueless about the major personalities and teams in APL. I knew of LOL via my time on the rankings forum, and heard good things about you from agents I respect in the SEA forums. If you want to follow the genesis of the SEA challenge to APL, you can find it in this thread. It started off about the Naga playoff picture, but detoured into "let's play another league".
