The Texans might have won if a certain defensive end didn't take TWO illegal and dirty shots on our QB.

Allen is a great player, no doubt. I wanted him to come to the Texans before Minnesota mortgaged the future of their franchise for him.

But he is the dirtiest player in the league. I no longer have any respect for the guy. IMO he purposefully tries to injure QB's and I would not have been the least bit upset if Cherilus had knocked him out for the season. I just find it ironic that he got so upset because someone did to him what he consistently does to others. Only difference is that the hit on him was legal.

With that said, I have the Vikings defense and ST's on my fantasy team. So if ya'll could score a couple of TD's against Arizona this weekend, that would be sweet.

Mortgage the future?

Two picks? One of the thirds was from trading down with Denver 2 years ago from like the 4th to the 5th.

I would hardly call two picks mortgaging the future, especially when Allen is basically a first rounder.

So really all we gave up was a third and fourth for a 5th and Allen.

I'll take it.

Allen is a beast on the field and may have well been worth it but you guys paid a very steep price. I'm not really following your math on it but I believe you gave up a first and 2 thirds to get the guy. That's 3 first day picks. Plus the guy is getting paid 74mil over 6 years with 31mil guaranteed. I would say that is a pretty hefty price indeed.

Yea, I explained that horribly.

beyond horribly actually, but you get the point.

Allen is pretty much like a first because if he was there at 17, we woulda taken him. So its only the two third rounders.

One of them was from Denver from two years ago when we traded down from like the 4th? to the 5th? So in reality all we lost was a 3 and 4th.

Not bad for the leading DE, sack wise.

It's not like it's our money, Wilf is dishing the cash, not me.

I see what your getting at but I take a different approach. That third round pick could have been used to draft one of the top 90 players, so to say you only gave up a 4th or 5th isn't exactly realistic.

As far as the money, it could have been used to sign a QB which ya'll are in desperate need of. There is a salary cap in football so signing Allen to such a huge contract limits what you can do in the future. It's not like baseball where the richest owners can just dish out ginormous contracts to the best players.

Not saying it was a bad deal but it sure was an expensive one.

There are so many ways around the salary cap....

Plus we still have the money for a QB and now that we have a premier pass rusher we are a QB and CB, possibly a RT away from unstoppable, barring injury/suspension.

What's that saying: it's always Saturday somewhere? Or is it it's always noon somewhere? Eh, who cares, have a beer and a shot and get your day going.

my last drunkfest was one of those ones where you wake up feeling like a jackass. So I decided to be sober for awhile. It's been 10 days. I'm going to drink many beers tonight and try to cheer for the Colts D and MJD at the same time. No vodka.
