I was sitting in the cab of a tractor this afternoon replanting beans in spots where too much rain had drowned the first ones out and I remembered something my high school history teacher said to me, "You'll never get paid to stare out a window all day", would love to run in to that guy at some point.
I also remembered telling him that I was probably the only 10th grader that he had in class that was thinking to himself "I should be making hay today"

So I've seen some weird shit outside of dispensaries, but I think this takes the cake for questions left unanswered.
As I'm walking down the street, I see an elderly obese woman with a walker talking to a burly, probably 30some black guy. As I get closer, I hear the old woman say something along the lines of "we're trying to live paycheck to paycheck, thanks for this", as shes handing him a thick gold necklace with a cross on it. At this time, I'm approaching the two, and walking around them (between the guy and the dispensary). The guy literally takes the necklace out of the woman's hand, turns to me and says "hey man, want to buy some gold for cheap?", and gestures with the necklace. Like, before the woman even starts to walk away, he is selling her valuables. Also of note, I saw no exchange of anything going the woman's direction.
I don't even know where to start unraveling wtf was going on there.

I'm no help, had to search what a dispensary was.
Maybe she hired him to be a sales agent to off load some jewelry.

You don't have to hide that you were not "walking down the street," and that you were actually walking out of the dispensary.

I know, but in this particular instance I was actually walking down the street.
It's between me and the cornerstore.
I had munchies.

why does it matter that the guy was black!?
are you insinuating that it's "weird" for someone to hand over a gold necklace to a black man willingly rather than at gunpoint!?

That's so out of date. We use to call in bomb threats to the school so we could get a day off to go fishin now and then.

A friend of mine employs about 15 people for his business, I know all of his employees quit well and he has an employee who is 43 years old, good guy, hard worker. He was telling my friend, his boss, that he really needed money and that he was going to have to sell his ice castle which is a fancy ice fishing house, they are very nice and many that have them also use them as campers in the summer. After a couple of weeks of watching and listening to this employee complain, he wanted to help him out so he bought his ice castle from him thinking he would sell it in the fall when more people start looking for ice castles and recoup his $15,000. A week later, this employee that needed the money, bought himself a corvette.
It's funny because the boss doesn't ice fish, he doesn't fish at all. He has a lake house but that is his weekend getaway and he and his wife enjoy having their kids/grandkids up to the lake and tubing and skiing and boating.
For those of you that live in the south and don't know what an ice castle is:

Actually sounds to me like you're out of date. My brother got caught with his friend, who was the one that made the call, calling in a bomb threat at his middle school. He was sent to a correctional school for a year(where he met a much worse group of friends) and our HS wouldn't allow him to attend because of it. He ended up in court ordered rehab for over a year. He was in there for the 2000 new year.
Maybe you were better about not getting caught and maybe you lived in a small enough town that it didn't matter but bomb threats are a one way ticket to ruining your life here in FL.

I'm guessing it was more a product of the time than anything. Compared to when I went to school, lots of things have changed. To wit; We had NRA safety classes IN SCHOOL with real loaded weapons. Chewing tobacco was allowed but smoking was not. In Drivers ED classes we watched movies that are now classified as far too 'gory' to be viewed by kids. We had actual cartoons like 2 hours of the Buggs Bunny/Road Runner show that wasn't 'edited for children'. And, lastly, walking to school was something 99% of the kids did (that could... the rural kids used the bus) without fear.

School shootings when I was in school? Zilch. Or, if there was any. the government covered it up pretty damn good. In fact, things like 'road rage' and 'mass shooting' were mostly unknown. I think I'd have to home school my children today. I simply don't trust anyone out there with a gun. Mostly because 99% of them are just an ignorant 'angry moment' away from killing everyone they see.
