Me: I can't legally sell you beef that is not USDA inspected, you actually purchase the animal live with 3 other people. I have the appointment with my local butcher and deliver the animal, you have approximately a week to place your order, pick it up, pay the butcher. The butcher shop is open from 9-5 on weekdays and from 9-12 on Saturday. Is that a problem?

Customer: It shouldn't be, I live in (insert city) and most of my afternoons are free. I'm actually a lesbian.

Me: So, no problem with picking the beef up.

Customer: No

I think she meant she only eats girl cow

Don't get me wrong, don't really care what her leanings happen to be, just still trying to figure out how she managed to bring her sexual preference in to the conversation about beef considering I have never met her before and was talking to her on the phone. A little weird, not her being gay, just her thinking that it was information that I needed to complete her order. It was sandwiched in between me explaining that she actually needed to buy the animal live and that I would deliver the animal to the local butcher and asking her if it was a problem for her to pick it up there. She proceeded to tell me she lived in (insert city) and "I'm actually a lesbian". I wanted to say something like "expanding the diet from fish to beef" or "is it going to be weird to have meat in your mouth" but just went with the boring "so.....it isn't a problem for you to pick it up from my butcher"

Is that a normal thing that comes up in a conversation? Would it be cool if I told her that the beef was all natural and I don't use hormones and that I actually like to have sex with my wife on the picnic table? Was I supposed to ask a question there? Was she trolling me to see if I was like one of those bakeries who refused to sell to gay folk? Did she just come out and couldn't wait to tell everyone she talked to?

She wasn't a lesbo, she just said it so you would stop hitting on her

have we explored the possibility that cowpoker has a high-pitched voice and maybe just sounds like a lesbian on the phone?

I'm more Johnny Cash than Michael Jackson but for conversations sake, wouldn't that still be inappropriate, go a step further and say I am a woman who likes other women, in the context of a business deal, why would the conversation go that direction?

Back in the day when I would get hooked up from my friends at a surfshop for boards or wetsuits, etc ... it would be called a "bro deal". Maybe she thought you where of the ghey and was trying to get the hookup deal?

In other redneck news, a neighbor (about 4 miles away) was telling me that he woke up this morning and spotted a timber wolf so he got his rifle and another redneck interrupted him and said "You know they are protected" and he replied "In that case, I missed"

Made me chuckle

Maybe I give off a lesbian vibe over the phone or sexual orientation aside, maybe I just can't turn it off and will be doomed to a lifetime of unwelcomed sexual advances from women. That's my burden to bear.

Okay, you know what you do? You buy yourself a tape recorder, you just record yourself for a whole day. I think you’re going to be surprised at some of your phrasing.
