It's not backwards, it's all about left handedness vs right handedness. If it's backwards to you it'd be just right for someone with the opposite dominant hand (provided the spool was on the appropriate wall as well).
Well we had the first 'wind storm' in my life and in many people's memories here. Sustained winds were over 50 all day and gusts broke records with 80mph recorded in city limits. Got a quick video when I realized a neighbor's tree was going down, and it's gunna be on the ABC Nightly News with David something and on the CBS evening news if anyone is interested in that sort of thing. Tree must've been 30+ years old

So with a bunch of numbers in from the storm: The city itself set a record for highest recorded wind gust at 80. I live south of the city in an unincorporated ~20,000 person town and we had a recording of a 103 mph gust.
That's 1-0-3 miles per hour. Not anywhere near a tornado, hurricane, or Mount Washington. Fucking bonkers.
Portland is going through a massive snow storm right now.
Like, we had a dusting of snow around 7pm. There was a foot of snow on our porch at 10pm. It's now after 4am and it hasn't stopped snowing, and supposed to continue through tomorrow.

Talk about a city shutting the fuck down.
Oh yeah, no one in this city is going anywhere tomorrow. As I'm typing this there's a car stuck in the intersection outside of my residence, trying like hell but going no where at all.
It looks like this might be the first time in a while it doesn't immediately turn into a shitty layer of ice covering the streets and side walks.

Just walked to the cornerstore down the street that was somehow open. Snow was up to my knees on the sidewalk.
