I guess I meant by Bort

But maybe we just need some better suggestions for him to work with.

Might just start with the sidelines threat not being affected by what running style you're on.

Then go to trying to understand how to build a dynamic 2d map of everywhere the HB would like to go weighted by threats, blockers, and personal tactics.

The sideline is what makes me actually think it works like I think it does.

The whole "run into defender" thing on the sideline. Bort said that the sideline gave off a vector equal to the defender, or something like that...which "makes sense" in that it would cause the HB to not run out of bounds. However, it doesn't make sense in the sense that the HB thinks the sideline is running at him.

The sideline has zero mobility...and when faced with a defender and the sideline, an inch from the sideline should always be your goal...since the sideline doesn't move. It has no "danger area" like a defender does, you can get as close to it as you want, and have zero fear of it getting you.

Yeah, it is pretty stupid when a kick returner zigzags back towards the defender he is past because he views the sideline as a defender whom can tackle him.

Powerback pathing is easy...which is why it pretty much works fine.

The problem with the translation of that into GLB, is that defenders turn on a dime. They can make a 180 degree turn in a tick.

Loss of balance I do. Pmuch what I was trying to get at this entire time.

The behaviour reminds me of systems that are weakly/not damped and can get pushed into oscillatory responses.

So maybe, if a ball carrier has defenders on either side, Elusive -> partial power temporarily. Get upfield!

I really like the concept of picking a "strategy" rather than a path.

Each decision point gives you a discrete decision point and a coherent football move:

1) Cut hard once and commit
2) Juke and cut
3) Dive between 2 guys for yards
4) race to the sideline and try to shake the tackle

Something like that....

I was responding to the OP with a replay I recently saw in another forum.

R87... Can you change the name of this thread? This definitely changed into an Elusive Pathing, Vision thread. Spin was discussed in the original piece, but it took life after Bort made it clear Spin is still working - then, and then only did it really evolve into what it is now.

It's confusing a lot of readers.

I really should read until the end before posting things taut has already said since he was actively viewing the thread

I'm just glad we finally got somewhere though.

Now that you have read through it, I will go back and edit all my remarks to what I really mean...just to mess with your head.

I actually do that in all threads as soon as you leave.

So 1, 2, 3, 4 would be rolls... And the number of rolls are decided by things like Vision, Carrying and Confidence? For instance, if you have really high Confidence and Vision... Shouldn't you maybe have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 rolls of various things to try? And the highest score on the roll wins?

The lower your Energy/Morale is the less rolls you get.

There are a lot of cool things you could do with this Taut.

Either way...hopefully DB and you can summarize whatever good came out of it and relay it to Bort. I think that's the important part.

It could also be biased by what you are good at, or by tactical selectors.

Yes... Edit in the first post... Spin is not broke - Bort confirmed (use his quote) then thread title... Elusive pathing and vision discussion.
