I'm hoping to be able to set aside the time to do a rankings run today.

Zeta Conference Rankings - Week 6
Formula Changes:
- Removed Season 3 playoff bonuses
- Stats assessment increased from 0% to 25% of roster score
- Roster score (levels + stats) is currently 75% of total ranking.
- Margin of Victory is currently 10% of total ranking.
- Record is 15% of total ranking.
- Pumped Up Pistons renamed to Dirty South Gladiators
- NMI Ramekins renamed to Asau Assassins
1. Tonga Thunderbirds (110.6) - I was kind of surprised by this one as I expected the addition of stats to the rankings to hurt their score, particularly in the pass defense area. Interestingly enough, where last year they were one of the conference's elite offenses, this year they have the top ranked defense! Facing Tasmania this week, they might just be able to avoid the curse. The middle of their schedule is much lighter than either of the two ends.
2. Dunedin Wolverines (110.3) - Dunedin may be 5-0, but their inability to put a double digit margin on Uluru or meet the 47-point expectation in the 1-16 matchup with the Gladiators (former Pistons) holds their ranking back. A tough game with Christchurch is due up and they'll be looking to rid the conference of the last undefeated.
3. Bikini Atoll Mushroom Clouds (109.9) - Two solid wins (and the only defensive score even close to Tonga's) keep their score up. A couple interesting games coming up, with Christchurch and the Fuegans, but Redscape this week will be overmatched.
4. Christchurch Knightmares (106.5) - A disappointing loss to the 'Shrooms has them looking to make a statement this week with Dunedin. They've got more challenges after that, but Dunedin's a big enough one for the others to wait.
5. El Fuego (103.0) - A soft opening schedule produced great stats that artificially raise their score. However, it also means once they reach Bikini Atoll in 3 weeks that they'll be playing 7 of 8 Zeta games against playoff contenders. First, they get to run their stats up some more with FPQA and Asau (the former Ramekins).
6. Chinese Bandits (102.8) - One more game against Asau, and then they get much of the same brutal stretch that El Fuego's facing. Their roster is talented enough, but can they apply the lessons from the Cimmeria upset and the loss to Tonga in time to face the Shrooms in two weeks?
7. Four Horsemen (96.0) - They've performed pretty close to expectations all season. If it's a home playoff game they want, they'll have to start overachieving. The grudge match with Christchurch in two weeks would be the ideal time.
8. Uluru Rockies (94.9) - Playing Dunedin close helped, but the real difference here is great defensive stats. The Chenabogs come to town looking to build on their upset of the Warriors.
9. Redscape Diplomats (94.1) - A couple of easy games boosted their stats. We'll see if they can keep this up for the next three games. Of course, that's the Shrooms, Wolverines and Horsemen.
10. Coney Island Warriors (91.2) - Losses like the one to the Chenabogs are the kind of thing that ends up with you sitting at home for the postseason ... unless you're the Warriors of last season and don't mind having to upset like 5 teams in a row.
11. Mauna Kea Chenabogs (84.3) - Very surprising how well they've done in the last four weeks on the scoreboard, even if the record doesn't show it.
12. Cimmerian Barbarians (84.1) - The win over the Bandits and blowout of Tasmania shows that they have some ability to make noise in this conference. That week 2 loss to Redscape will hurt bad come playoff seeding time, though.
13. Tasmania Sand Gnats (74.7) - The season is not off to a great start. Facing Tonga isn't likely to help. FPQA and Asau in the next two weeks should be a much better time, but the Gnats need to be careful, both those teams have a win, so morale won't be as bad.
14. Dirty South Gladiators (74.4) - The former Pumped Up Pistons are in much better shape than they were a few weeks ago, but it may be too late to avoid relegation as they've already lost to both teams below them in rankings. They do still have the three guys above 'em, and if they can keep improving, there's at least a small chance.
15. FPQA Ronnie Rockerz (73.1) - Big game in 2 weeks when they fight the Gnats to find out who's in hot water for relegation.
16. Asau Assassins (71.9) - They may be ranked 16, but an Alpha draw they can compete with and three weeks until the next meaningful battle means they have a much better shot of staying in AA than the numbers would suggest.
Special Bonus Content: Top Roster Scores (levels + stats)
Pass Offense - Dunedin (107), Chinese (100), Fuego (96), Bikini (96), Mauna Kea (91)
Rush Offense - Dunedin (98), Bikini (96), Chinese (95), Tonga (93), Fuego (93)
Pass Defense - Tonga (99), Dunedin (95), Chinese (94), Bikini (92), Christchurch (91)
Rush Defense - Tonga (102), Bikini (101), Chinese (95), Fuego (88), Christchurch (85)
Special Teams - Christchurch (79), Tonga (79), Dunedin (71), Uluru (68), Bikini (64)

Fantastic read as always, Sarg! A great look at your analytical tools, as well.
However, we have that #1 ranking again. I hope it's not the same "kiss of death" as it was last time. We certainly can't rest on our laurels, even if we're entering a much more manageable stretch. Even I'm a bit stunned that Tonga has the top-ranked defense in the conference. Definitely a testament to the entire unit, from our solid DC all the way down to the final reserve.

So you are saying that we need to run the score up to keep the #1 ranking even though we are the only undefeated team in the division?
I would rather give my backups some XP then get a higher ranking.
Anyway, I always enjoy these report even last year when we were in the bottom half of the rankings.
Thanks again Sarg.

We try and maybe after todays game we can take back the #1 spot in the power rankings.
Good luck to you and your team.

Whoops, I got the "Ch" part right anyhow. What I meant was the Chinese Bandits.

As DC for the Gnats I gotta say, we are better than our record indicates. It has taken me some time to figure out this new Defensive AI and I think I'm finally going to see some results in this upcoming game against the Rockerz. Lord I hope so...
At any rate, good work with the rankings. And thanks.

I'd agree, having just played the Gnats. They have a better team than an 0-6 record would indicate: there's some solid talent there. I hope you all can turn it around, especially since this game could be huge in the battle to ward off relegation at the end of this season. I wish you the best of luck this upcoming week, and I'd like to say GG for our game last week.

Zeta Conference Rankings - Week 7
Formula Changes: No changes
1. Bikini Atoll Mushroom Clouds (114.6) - The math always likes lopsided victories over middle-ranked teams. With a pair of contenders on deck in the Chinese Bandits and El Fuego, the next two weeks will be critical to a 'Shroom attempt to claim the 1-seed.
2. Tonga Thunderbirds (114.3) - It's hard to see any of their next five opponents upsetting the Thunderbirds, though if anyone's going to do it, you'd have to believe it'd be this week with Coney Island.
3. Dunedin Wolverines (109.1) - Christchurch bags the last of the undefeateds. They get a bit of a break with Redscape before the last gasp of a brutal opening schedule (back-to-back Bandits, Fuegans) leaves them with only Tonga and the Alpha game (Sydney) to worry about in the second half of the season.
4. Christchurch Knightmares (108.1) - As usual, Christchurch gets big points for beating opponents with rosters that are superior on paper. Also as usual, their own scores hold them back a little bit. They face a grudge match this week. Last season, they took homefield advantage from the Horsemen for the #4-#5 playoff game, only to have the Horsemen end their season anyhow.
5. El Fuego (106.4) - Fresh off thumping FPQA, the Fuegans get Asau. Some teams just have all the luck! The real tests start the week after with 3 back-to-back games against contenders.
6. Chinese Bandits (105.3) - You know that back-to-back-to-back I was talking about with El Fuego? The Bandits get it starting this week. Look at it this way, guys, it's a great chance to significantly improve your power ranking score with a few wins!
7. Four Horsemen (100.6) - This is your chance to move up, don't let it pass you by! It will be interesting to see what comes out on top in Equestrian Bowl III, the Horseman offense or the Knightmare defense.
8. Coney Island Warriors (92.1) - The last playoff spot looks to be shaping up to be a very interesting race. For their part, its hard to see the Warriors holding onto #8 this week, but they can make up for it when Uluru comes in for a visit in Week 13.
9. Uluru Rockies (91.4) - Playing the Dirty South Gladiators this week, you have to imagine they should have little trouble regaining the #8 spot if Tonga beats Coney Island. With games remaining against Coney and Redscape, they're in charge of their own playoff fate.
10. Redscape Diplomats (91.1) - Sitting at 3-3 with only 5 games left against teams not still in contention for the #1 seed, Redscape's going to have to upset someone.
11. Mauna Kea Chenabogs (83.5) - Though a tough opening schedule has probably ruled out much of a shot at playoffs, they still have plenty of winnable games left and aren't going to be participating in the relegation derby. The game today against Cimmeria will be to keep at least a sliver of playoff hope alive for both teams.
12. Cimmerian Barbarians (82.6) - With 4 games left in which they should be the clear favorites, Cimmeria can make a push for a .500 season by knocking off the Chenabogs and then upsetting one other team (Uluru would seem to be the logical target). Of course, lose to the Chenabogs and that hope dries up pretty fast.
13. Tasmania Sand Gnats (74.0) - The relegation derby is on as Tasmania faces two other "contenders" in FPQA and Asau in the next two weeks. They've got to have at least one, but getting both would make breathing a lot easier.
14. Dirty South Gladiators (72.5) - They have a much harder task, having to upset at least two teams ranked ahead of them to have any hope of sticking around AA. Fortunately for them, they still have games left against #9-13. The toughest is up this week with Uluru.
15. Asau Assassins (71.0) - With two real chances left to avoid relegation, you know they'll have Tasmania circled for next week. The other isn't until Week 16 when they have a great Alpha draw in the Newcastle Ghosts.
16. FPQA Ronnie Rockerz (69.8) - You guys need this game. Seriously.
