Too bad they couldn't play well because they are a well organized team. I guess that 1.3 level deficit REALLY made a difference.

Brisbane I congratulate you on winning your conference and being a great team. But couldn't you give the Victors a moment in the sun w/o giving every excuse as to why you lost except that they are a good team. (May have been wrong but didn't see it once that they were the better team that day) And I'm not kissin Melbournes ass either, we lost and it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Congratulations to you both on a succesful year.

Thanks, it was a good season for both teams.

To answer what you said, I don't believe the level difference had much an effect. I'm not sure you understood what I meant. Our builds were very similar despite the level difference. That makes our teams very similar in quality. MTD has higher level players that have some similarities in quality with our own. I believe the level difference may have played a small role in in morale in some instances for some players. However, that likely was not much compared to the morale loss coming from turnovers.

I may be wrong, but believe everything that happens in this game happens for a specific reason. IMO the people who figure out the reasoning behind things in this game tend to excel at it. The other people who don't figure things out or put it to luck will probably find that their luck tends to be of the bad kind .

Nah, you just need a team that is one.

Well now, since I got called out...

Passing yards:
Melbourne-5114 (1st)
Brisbane-4530.5 (3rd)

Rushing yards:
Melbourne-3626.5 (3rd)
Brisbane-3128 (8th)

Passing defense:
Melbourne-160.2/game (4th)
Brisbane-182.9/game (13th)

Rushing defense:
Melbourne-13.0/game (2nd)
Brisbane-1.9/game (1st)

Melbourne has 3 of the 4 big statistical categories, and is just one step behind Brisbane for the last one. The one matchup that is really glaring to me is Melbourne's passing offense against Brisbane's passing defense. Melbourne's passing attack is the most potent in the league by a good 25 yards per game, and Brisbane's passing defense is a little more suspect that one might realize. I think Melbourne exploits this to their advantage, and emerges victorious from this hard-fought classic!

Rushing defense:

You believe regular season stats from the alpha and zeta conference make for accurate comparisons? All that does is mesh together all wins from all games in their particular conference. It doesn't take into account many key factors.

An easy example: Just because the Patriots had better stats in the AFC than the Giants in the NFC, in no way meant that the Giants were that much worse passing or running the ball than the Patriots. Both teams came from difference conferences and therefore have different overall statistics, even though their teams were obviously about the same strength.

If you guys think Zeta is so tough, look at what the Sea Dragons did to the "#2 team" in the league the last game of the regular season and compare with how MTD did against them...

Good Luck Melbourne. Your team is good, but is your depth? We will see.

Our depth is/was just fine

It was pointed out by Chase (thanks btw ) where you had a glaring weakness to one of our glaring strengths, and we were able to take advantage of that today.

But really, this game was another decided on special teams...two forced fumble turnovers on special teams lead to 14 MTD points. Take that away and its a 17-13 game.

I just want to say to the Blaze that you have a very, very solid team in Brisbane, esp. that D-Line...by far the best we've seen all year.

Good luck in AAA#1 Alpha next season, and REV - send me a PM when you are ready.

Sorry that I was away most of the day; I was out buying my girlfriend an engagement ring, and then she met me back here, had a severe storm...just not a lot of time to myself, haha.

But I want to congratulate the Melbourne Thorny Devils on their Oceania AA #2 championship. You guys were the class of the league this season, from the opening kickoff until the final buzzer. 20 straight wins is NOT easy to do on GLB, and you made it look that way. I'm glad you guys were able to bring the championship back to Zeta (which somewhat quells the whole "superior conference" talk), but I'm nore glad to see you earn it for yourselves. The hard work's paid off, men: celebrate!

However, I'll congratulate the Brisbane Blaze as well. Reverse those 2 TDs off special teams, and it's an entirely new ballgame. Still, 18-2 and a conference championship isn't anything to be shameful about. You played hard, and you gave it everything you had. Best of luck in AAA next season; perhaps we'll join you in Season 5!

Side note: I said 24-13 for a final score. If Mebourne had just stayed out of the end zone one more time, I'd look like a freaking genius .

Thanks King, we actually ran out fresh special teams all day as part of our strategy, and ran our starters ragged on offense and defense. I guess opposite of you guys in that regard. The ball bounced our way today, but I would hazard a guess that if we played 10 games back to back, all 10 would be fun to watch

Best of luck in AAA#1 against the Mean Machine and some of the other killer teams up there.

You guys played a good game especially on special teams. 3 ST turnovers, nice. It may be good to note that your depth would not have held up as well on ours if we didn't fumble so much, lol. Your team has an average of around 1.3 levels higher than us. Our builds are similar though.

So we compensated for this by keeping some guys extremely fresh. The only thing is that energy doesn't matter much when the large morale hit from a turnover kicked in. It seemed that every time our guys recovered from the morale loss from a previous turnover, there was another turnover .

You guys took advantage of fumbles in the return game and that happened way too much for my liking. Otherwise, that extra morale we would have retained may have made it a much more interesting game. You guys played well against our low morale.

All of that, or; our strategy of intentionally forcing starters and playing them on special teams, in order to get an early lead which allows you to dictate what the opponent will do and is intentionally implemented in order to break the morale of teams used to winning because they do not invest in confidence like bad teams do is a superior strategy to trying to keep it close in order to have fresh guys at the end.

Point being; take away our big plays on special teams and we still win.
