Because it seems that, unbeknownst to us, this first round was all about the West Scranton vs Fiji match-up, and how the Invaders, or at least the of one of their o-lineman, was exceptionally miffed by one guy's prediction which he did not fully understand in the first place.

im not even that miffed by the prediction just the fact he thinks its not fair to be called out for his predicitons because they were "outdated"

if they were outdated he could have easily edited his post

But why act like you "showed him" when you won by a small margin AFTER boosting alot of your players? I mean, it was close as it was, so it stands to at least be reasonable that you'd have fallen short if not for the increased levels. Regardless, it came from numbers punched in. Nothing he personally did. Ballbright just typed the post and showed the info. It wasn't some vendetta against you guys, and definitely not worth hijacking the board with. Good luck next week.

how many times? we didnt boost ALOT of our players it was 40% at most and for most of them it was no more than one level...

we had infact boosted the game before to make sure we didnt meet the Mustangs in the first round.

how many times? 40% boosted in our team AT MOST... and most of them boosted only 1 level because we had all boosted the week before to assure that we missed Mustangs in the first round of the playoffs

I'm not insinuating. I'm straight up calling you one. That you cannot grasp what an opinion is and is not is beyond laughable. There was no opinion, he just refuses to understand that..probably didn't even read the link I posted explaining in English that a confidence level is a statistical estimation, and not some arbitrary number (which would make an opinion).

Your team boosted enough to push their overall from a 39 when I made these, to a 42 overall...

It's like when someone with 35 items heads into the express lane at the grocery store.... it's either a math major who can't read or an English major who can't add.

I think you missed my point.

The game today was close. You guys boosted before the game, therefore being better than you were when he ran the numbers predicting the outcomes.

Therefore, regardless of what percentage of guys you had boost or whatever, it's a bit much to get so worked up as to derail more than one thread over winning as the "underdog."

Also, why argue with the guy who posted them, or anyone in general when he didn't do anything but use a formula to try and predict outcomes? It wasn't like he created it with some minus 10% chance built in strictly for your team or something. He ran the numbers based on data he had, the data changed, and the prediction was wrong. You get respect by winning championships and handling it well, not by pissing people off over something trivial and arguing over semantics.

Besides, since you guys advanced, don't you have better things to worry about than LAST ROUND'S matchup predictions? How 'bout scouting and increasing your % of winning NEXT week's game? That's all that ever matters in GLB. Again, best of luck.

The "95%" NUMBER YOU ALL KEEP BANDYING ABOUT IS NOT YOU CHANCES OF LOSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is how confident I am in the numbers out to the thrid standard deviation from the mean. Your team boosted after I made the projections rendering the numbers rather pointless anyway. If you hadn't boosted, you would've been beat. Even with the boosting, and a huge talent advantage you still barely won...

congrats on that...

I think the point that they're tyring to make though is that you're walking around here trying to smash Scranton (or doing in inadvertently) by saying we should have beaten them by more than 4. That just makes you look like a jackass though because a day ago (or whenever it was posted) you said you were 95% confident we would lose. Now you're bashing us because we didn't blow them out?

I think you need to go look up the term 'confidence interval'. It doesn't mean what you seem to think it does.

HOWEVER

did u not say you were 95% confident that your prediction was the Fiji would beat WS? yes you did...

there done

No, I did not. I said I was 95% confident given the data I had at the time (before your team boosted) was correct.

Again, since you cannot seem to grasp what that means, I sincerely request that you not comment on any future predictions I make. I would prefer my readers are smart enough to understand what they're reading.

much like chetro said... only about 40% of our team even had any boosts left at that time... myself for one had already fully boosted

please do not post your own confidences in a formula (which then becomes opinion) and not expect to be called out when it was wrong

if it was just a formula i wouldnt of even bothered discussing it... Opinion makes it slight which makes it rude in my book

LMAO, you've never taken any Statistics courses have you? Confidence in the sense that I use it, is a statistical term...there is no opinion behind it.

I find it extremely rude being called out for no reason by the uninformed, then having to go back and educate them...

Your feigned indignity at being called for to lose, by a formula that was outdated as soon as your team boosted sure is precious though, LMAO

This is the danger of using a term that's taught in high school statistics in a forum with a bunch of 13 year olds, I guess.
