Sometimes it’s best not to try and figure the equations and just figure out what works. Knowing equations doesn’t mean squat if it still doesn’t win games. What wins games is what is important... do you think rob. Myrik myself, xbossx (Hawaii bulls owner), Osiris, any of us guys that still win consistently have sat down and ran equations? No we try new builds and find out what wins games and use it

Then again... you run new builds out of boredom

Trying to squeeze out something new and interesting - one of the most rewarding aspects of the game(when it works)

It's all I ever do, frankly.

It's particularly hard to do when skills like route tech and route elusiveness are basically useless.

Sure, but no one knows when or if that's going to happen, so...

Yeah, I've found that Gold Head Fake and 40+ Route Tech and Elusiveness will get you one great play like that about every three games or so. Maybe it should create opportunities more frequently, if less dramatically?

Shouldn't a skill as seemingly basic as route tech have intrinsic value and not be tied to an SA?

Shitter than Slot Machine which can only fire on 3rd Down.

The whole Shifty WR Trait is designed to utilize Head Fake.

No one uses the Shifty trait.
No one uses Head Fake.
No one uses Route Elusiveness because it makes WRs worse.

Right.

But do you agree that is poor game design? Things like this play into why new players get discouraged and quit.

As a disclaimer, I'm fine leaving it the way it is. Things are pretty well balanced at the moment.

And therein lies the inevitable rub. Fixing that imbalance, and in doing so throwing off the balance of the game for several seasons or more, would make a lot of current players mad.

And new players are going to have garbage builds out of the gate either way. Like, unless every skill is always equally useful to invest in, then they are going to get whomped by meta builds.

I mean, if you were to roll out a major balance change, you could offer up one(or two) free full respecs. I think that'd placate the older players.

Cdog:

Why can't you do a small "tweak" first? Wait a season and then see if you need to "tweak" it again? And repeat as necessary so that you don't blow up the sim?

Perhaps this isn't really possible with the code but figured I'd ask.

This seems preferable.
