People are talking about power backs but wouldn't balance be even more important for pure elusive backs that run in slipery/evasive? A lot of change of directions.

Style aside, our back has 90 sprinting, 50 balance, and he looks like he's running through mud going in a straight line to the edge now. I don't know, maybe he needs more footwork/quickness.

It's important all over the place. I'm seeing LBs look like crap, CBs get burnt, it's just problematic right now. I could understand if these were low balance players, but once you're at 40+ you should at least be near where players were performing last season. HBs rely on so many cuts and moves, they just can't sustain their balance during a run. Barry Sanders would look like Leon Lett running the ball in the current sim.

Doubtful, I'd put Barry Sanders at like 95 Balance, not 40.

Fair enough

But still, at 40 a HB should't run like they're shoes are tied together half the time. It's like a soccer game with all these players flopping/falling down untouched right now.

Probably true but Barry Sanders would likely be impossible to build using the points available we would need to be able to almost max carry awr, elusive running, quickness, balance, footwork, conditioning and carry grip, with a high sprinting, toughness and heart, as well as good receiving skills and even some basic power running thrown in, the guy had mad skills. Would also need to make platinum juke, gold would do that guy no justice.

As you guys raise the need, effectiveness and importance of skills, you will eventually have to give more skill points, i defend having to choose what you are good at, but true S*s are good at everything and great in a few, as jagator said, its impossible to build really great HBs now.

One of the big problems with the changes isn't the now relevancy of balance, is that players are just falling off without being touched, without evene doing a cut, sometimes they literally forget how to run.

I think the slow-downs running towards the outside have a bigger impact than the slips. Part of that is psychological, we're used to seeing big plays in the outside running game, and taking that away upsets the concepts that entire teams are built around. At the pro level, there probably aren't enough skill points remaining to adapt to the change.

So I'm going to repeat something that's already been suggested, which is some kind of one-time opportunity to re-assign player skill points after a major sim change. That would take a lot of the sting out of it.

So it looks like we need to get balance up waaay high for them to not look like shit. Oh, except for WRs. They can stay at 11 balance and run like gazelle...

So if we put Barry Sanders at balance-95 where do other former NFL players fall in the scale?
How about a Reggie Bush, or Derrick Henry. Or even a Rashan Salaam or Curtis Enis. My point is o matter how bad the back you rarely saw them out there falling over for no damn reason. Maybe a slip on the lousy turf here or a fall in the lousy weather there, but not routinely falling over like they downed a 5th of Hennessy before the game.

Shoot Hennessey isn't enough, they would need to be drunk and high to be falling like this and walking thinking they are running still.

So, is this the answer? We have to max out balance to be successful?
