Once people are generally aware and talking about it on the forum it's done, and any new team being built around the idea will be behind the 8-ball. Sure these HB's will dominate if they've already been built, but any rookie team will be loading up with 2 S* CB's and speed at Lb and safety and it'll be shut down for the most part. Even if they don't they'll still be cognizant of the threat and defenders will naturally begin to have more stamina, speed and tackling skills as the threat becomes even more and more real. And we know some form of nerf is coming too. The last thing you want to be doing is trying to follow the trend as it's always guaranteed that you'll be too late doing that. There's another meta forming now, and I almost wish I was resetting now to hop on it and dominate against those who are betting in the wrong direction, but I want my team to get to veteran first, I think that's important. So I'll wait and see how things move along and continue to tweak my builds and roster optimization so as to squeeze everything I can past ya'll when i do reset.


Speaking the truth. I'm going to do something a bit different with my Elements team that I don't think has been really explored so I'm looking forward to that. I wish they would implement the idea about collapsing a tier and giving those points to you in rookie so we could skip this whole "build for what wins in rookie, then reset to your real plan in the offseason between rook/soph." Not only is that lame, but the games are horrid to watch with no SP in the builds.

GLB2Scout Data for TRIPS HB Counter Strong.

All Tiers: 7.21 YPC (against both Man & Zone)

Vet: 7.38
Pro: 17.07
Journey: 11.81
Seasoned: 8.56
Soph: 6.34
Rookie: 3.92

So there's a lot of Tier disparity around the average.

But there's also some crazy play calling. The Top 5 D plays in Pro against this are: 3-3-5 Over Will, Nickel Storm Brave, Nickel Man DE Flats, 3-3-5 Under Sam. That's 30% of the play calls.

That is easy to stop with a zone defense.

Yeah, but against a zone D I'd only throw out of Trips. That's so much more fun.

Be interesting to see how the powers that be decide to nerf these build (seems likely to happen). Be cool if they changed the builds to where quickness is more relevant for building speed/momentum and taking corners maybe make toughness more relevant to keeping your HB from getting heart/energy eaten up.

That sort of stuff would probably force some more "fair" builds. It gives some of the other skills some value that are currently undervalued and underused but that seem as though they should be important for a HB.

Likely we will all just build defenders specifically to stop these sorts of buildss and the teams that don't plan for it will fail.

people have been building slow, unrealistic defenses for some time now. Its about time people changes their builds instead of changing the sim.

I'd like to see if people can build to stop it, rather than just band-aid fix something that we don't really know is broken long-term.

I think it can be stopped, But not with the defenses people are used to building. But once people start building teams to stop these HBs, those defenses will likely be weak in other areas and there will be something to take advantage of it.

I think it has more to do with defenses lacking stamina than speed. I never new how important stamina was on safeties who chase down defenders. That speed is worthless when the DB is sucking wind.

I always thought my defenders needed more speed or tackling skills. What they really need is more stamina.

Totally agree. There's a reason why the Closing Speed SA boosts both max speed & conditioning. The Chase Down SA also enhances conditioning, along with speed/cover tech.
