This. http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/227154/2474297

LZ avg Morale: 68
Bronx avg Morale: 56

The score is 34-3 and Belgarath throws his 3rd pick.

Why does having more Morale matter? What's the point of huge Heart investment to counter Morale when the value of it is so low and therefore the Opportunity Cost so high?

This was a home game. Belgarath has 81 Heart, plus 20 for HTH and 25 for high contract = 126 Heart. That's a shit ton of extra SPs in terms of cost. But not in Value.

Much better to stop at 50 Heart and invest in other skills.

That's my tip of the day.

You using that much Heart was never a good investment, everyone knew that already. These responses make me think you truly believe just because you have a high heart investment it protects you from poor play and overcomes a poor gameplan. You had to give up a ton of SPs across all your builds, you are essentially out there with a bunch of Vince Papale's running around.

but, fwiw, Belgarath and Belgarion are top HoF finishers every season. Not sure they are scrubs with a ton of team spirit.

I pulled out all the stops to beat Bronx for our during the season matchup. I doubt I'll catch Sov off guard again.

gg but im a bit disappointed! i was fully locked and loaded for a shoot out lol. i took a risk and gameplanned to beat the last setup you used and i got lucky in the fact you didnt change your d up that much. most of all of the credit goes to FF for that one, his D setup was perfect

Thanks. Now can everybody stop complaining that this game is built on morale spirals.

They still happen and can hurt for a while. The steady pull back to 50 helps get out of them and I have seen more comebacks due to this but sometimes your team may not get out of the rut until it is too late. Heart and toughness are still important. Not like 100 skill cap important though. Maybe if the gravitation bit was never added LogZilla could have been far more deadly. Unfortunately there is no way for us to see what might have been.

Well there was a time when Trash Talk was used to slaughter QB Morale and there was no gravitation.

That's when almost all of my Heart investment took place. So maybe it mattered in the past but certainly hasn't for awhile.

Anyway I can't just respec my whole team away from Heart when the investment was made so early and with my 2 S* roster, I'm going to have lots of cap space and thus a bunch of high contracts.
It just is what it is.

Someone should make a roster that never spends an SP or AP or cap booster until Vet, with somewhat generic cap structures.

Then you could respec every season.

Yes and no. I built a test. The test has failed. There's value in learning either success or failure.

The test was to see if buying X in Heart for Y cost translated into a much higher value.

Example: Spending 500 SP on Heart 50, and then adding RW or HTH meant that you were really buying Heart 70 for those same 500 SP. Adding a high contract meant that when buying 50 Heart for 500 SP, you were really buying Heart 75 (or Heart 95 with HTH).

Turns out Heart 95 isn't worth 500 SP which makes it pretty clear that Heart 50 isn't worth 500 SP either.

You can't sign a contract with 1000 or more unspent SP (i think it's 1000 anyways).

So after each season, you'd have to spend at least a the base level SP that you had built up over the previous season worth of games.

His heart investment used to give the morale draining O line I had on my original Beers team fits. I had both the Morale killer Oline and the Trash Talk LBs. The heart investment countered them both very well in it's day.

I think you have to spend "x" amount of SP before you can sign with a team.
