In week 1 when we had a CPU/auto-fill roster and 0 cares. Its not hard to shut down a rookie team running a veteran playbook with a poorly constructed roster.
That's part off the reason I tried with Dynasty...to prove it was the lack of cares that lost that week 1 matchup.

I think tournaments have never happened because having the off day be a tourney day would likely reduce the amount of flex spent on scrimmages.

Have a buy in for the tourney maybe? Teams can queue for tier and if enough pay the 50(or something)flex have a few hour long tourney. Maybe like a 100 or 200 flex buy in and winner gets half and game gets half. Or just 50 and the game keeps all.
This way only people who want in do it and gives you bragging rights over the other teams plus the fun.

Na, the main reason is that it has lukewarm response (as shown in this thread), along with cascading logistic problems that haven't been figured out.

Wait, how is the response lukewarm. Didn't really see too many people speak against having tournaments. Sure I said I wanted a taco, but GE asked me what I wanted, and at that moment I wanted a taco.

It's not that much of a bitch it's just actually making it worthwhile. They aren't worth adding if it's just going to be largely ignored and irrelevant for most people...as are the tournaments on GLB Classic and MB.
Single elimination halves the people it is relevant to every game. Round robin is essentially league games and tiers are so big that it wouldn't be possible. Splitting up tiers for round robin just turns it into a lame version of league and ladder games.
User created tournaments would kind of alleviate some necessity of the games being meaningful...but that comes with its own slew of issues. Filling a team for the average user is one of the worst parts of the game...everyone being able to make their own tournaments and try to fill it would likewise end up with a bunch of half full tournaments. Combined with the fact that people can already make their own tournaments but every attempt so far has lost interest before it finished...doesn't make it sound like too promising of a feature.
Something to do on the off days makes sense. I just don't think tournaments are the solution. Even free scrims would probably be more relevant to more people as they could actually test things rather than being eliminated first round and still having an empty day or beating up on a lower seeded team.
