Minnesota's got a pretty good tackling secondary basically leaving it at minimum. I tended to think it's good for that too. It's easier to find examples of it being useless though.

The question for me would be:

If the player has high diving, that does that mean he may dive "too early" to try to steal a yard or 2 from the HB instead of chsing him and try a real tackle? As im pretty sure diving tackles are easier to break than normal ones, that would suck. But even in the nfl, its always the decision between stealing the yard or making a clean tackle.

Guess we will never know

Deflection is nice to have but more than that is needed for PDs. Vader has led all LBs on his tier for the last 3 seasons with 25, 21 and 26 PDs but only has 33 deflection skill. High footwork and quickness are needed to get the player in the right position to attempt a PD. Of course, that is for zone...I can't speak for man defense
