See I think if you did a 'game of the week' or something small like that, you're going to limit interest to purely those involved in those games (a small # once you drill down to people watching live).

Creating an entire league environment gives you access to at least 12 teams simming at a time (in a situation where GLB is larger, possibly 24+ teams simming at a time). 12 teams of people is gives you a good baseload to add onto the chat trolls who are just hanging out there and anyone who may just be curious.

I mean, there was a resim in GLB Classic and people spent a year complaining that the outcome was different the second time.

Put a disclaimer on the page that sometimes re-sims need to occur, ldo.

people complain. about everything. repeatedly. forever.

the answer isn't "do nothing" because people then just complain about that..

(not talking about GLB and this film room idea - I accept that it isn't practical for you - just talking in general).

You could knock out tournaments for us -- make them available - and BOOM - people will complain about: seeding / game times / match ups / cost / interface / etc / etc

What are the specs on your servers and where do you guys host them? I've leased one from the Netherlands to run my Plex server off of when I travel and it's pretty cheap....it probably is much lower end that what you guys need though.

I agree - and not knowing anything about programming makes me ignorant. but if there was a way to quickly get 1 or 3 games available - and judge participation - that could justify growing it or not (by a 3rd party)

It'd be a month+ long process to implement.

There's no quick here (in reference to the type of coding work, not in reference to GLB).

I know nothing about coding, but I'm going to look into this when I'm off work this weekend. I think I could throw something very crude together to make it happen...

There are products out there that already do stuff like this, you shouldn't have to start from scratch.

Not sure...I know we have like 15 servers. Varying specs and age since we've had to update, replace, and add new servers over the past 6 years.

And it's not cheap. We renegotiated recently and managed to get the monthly bill lowered by a few grand.

If you want it integrated into the site you pretty much have to do it from scratch.

Fair enough, I'll try to get something 3rd party set up to see how much interest we have.

Third party would be fairly easy...just host another third party chat and have an iframe playing a game.

If you wanted to get fancy, you could do some json calls and play the game on your site itself rather than an iframe. Syncing everyone in chat together will still be near impossible most likely, but yeah.

Unless it was a twitch stream or something, I guess.

Just announce that you'll be streaming a game, then the "watch party" would be a chat window at bottom with your twitch stream of the game at the top.

I hear you. but embarrassing? Really? If that's is the case -- simply have 5 or 10 instances available -- and have Stobie (or someone) choose the 'games of the week' that will be in the theater that day.

secondly - I've been playing GLB since season 1 of glb1 (with a large break in there) - of the hundreds of games I've watched unfold live -- I've never seen a single case of a re-sim. Not one.

So I think this phantom fear of disaster is kind of unfounded -- if a resim is needed - a resim is needed -- do you think there be a bigger riot than we've seen from other real issues?? sims break. Servers hiccup. Servers crash. Software bugs. I think people can live with that.

I have had 3 resims in GLB2 alone.
