Why not just give a small boon to awareness/consistency for consecutive plays firing? Rollout with 8 straight running plays? Boon to awareness as a team is better at sliding over in the center as the power HB rolls straight again. And if the player is good enough he can yell "who gives a damn" as the defense becomes "aware" of being bowled over on their back. Making a defense more talented makes no sense but you can expect them to be in right place more often if the same crap keeps happening.
The admins tinkered with this in GLB1, but it had to be the same exact play that was run, not 'type' of play. I do agree that defenses should get a delayed bonus in recognizing the same play ( incrementing higher the more its run ), but only if they pass vision checks. Some players will pass, some won't and if the wrong ones don't, it could get ugly. Additionally, as already mentioned, you'll have some teams that are specifically built to run certain plays all season as their bread and butter. Just as in the NFL, some teams can't stop it even though they know its coming and they're prepped for it.
