Oh...BTW....I'm running a 3-4 now.

You don't think some of those CBs that are head fake don't have maxed out Man Awareness?

Fake out safeties.

It works on any team who spams Man Base plays too since those plays force the defenders into Zone.

It still doesn't look as powerful as Head Fake though. I just watched some of the Vet games...those DBs freeze for a second or two when Head Fake is used...every time.

Honestly, I am 96% sure I am not the only one who runs strictly man defense. Too me, most of my teams sacks and interceptions come from the 3-4. My CB's only put points into coverage tech, man awareness, and their physical skills. While they are holding the receivers, the D-Line makes the QB throw a bad pass or just puts him on his ass. I honestly feel as if we could have beat the Deadites if our secondary was faster. Linebackers with 20-30 sprinting isn't good. I was laying off builds because who doesn't think about putting points into sprinting? But by this time next season, we will be an elite team, and I can provide you with sufficient evidence that 3-4 is quite effective, but it all depends on how the rest of your secondary is built.

Does it really, or does it just have a defender go to an area and then start man coverage on whoever happens to enter it first?
I mean, Man Base wouldn't force defenders to start using Zone Awareness right?

Usually it's just the FS, but it depends on which Man Base you use to match up against the WR set.
So if you use a 4-3 or 3-4 Man Base against 2WR, the SS should be assigned to the TE man-to-man with the LO on the HB and the MLB on the FB. In the NFL, the RO would take the HB on a weak side screen/route, but GLB has the LO as the coverage LB and the RO primarily as a blitzer (which is fine since it's consistent). As a result, only the FS should be in Zone. Basically the FS is in Zone coverage on any play where you match up CBs with WRs.
However, every time I try and show an assignment bug, I get told that it's my player failing an awareness check.

Well it lines up Man Coverage on all available receivers, if anyone is double covered that defender is running zone. You'll see them get Pump Faked occasionally.

This. The fact that pump fake will hit LBs as the "spare" player(s) in Man Base would indicate they're in some sort of zone.

From what I can tell that's pretty much how zone works.

Let me rephrase, with the word usage of man switching to zone if there's nobody to cover, does it also switch from man awareness to zone awareness?

I had always wondered if zone awareness only effects the radius of the zone that the defender can react in, whereas the coverage of the defender itself is actually governed by man awareness...
So a Zone defender would actually have to have both zone and man awareness to be effective... and that's why zone pass D sucks... Because none of them also take man awareness...
Looks like I have a new experiment for all my spare Zone DBs! (I have a full 9 DB set with zone awareness)
Just a thought
