I usually only blitz on 2nd and 3rd and long. I got destroyed by Logzilla cause of my offense sucking, not my defense. Im top 10 and making playoffs so the zone is working pretty well.

I don't discount that its working pretty well. It's fine for rushing defense. Zones issue has always been pass defense.

After 3rd Down Stopper and Closing Speed, it does get trickier on building a safety. The way zones work, Monster Hit's probably the best bet. I'd probably gold it and 3DS and then silver Closing speed in a zone setup.

yeah I like that too. First Step is sneaky good synergy with Monster hit. More acceleration to get to the 50%+ speed threshold.

I'd have probably golded Monster Hit though. It's real value is lifting the floor on your rolls. It gets really good at Gold.

How often does First Step even fire on safeties in zone. Aren't they constantly backpedaling or moving sideways or something?

More common than you think. It's really nice the same way closing speed is for stopping the drift into a zone and getting a jump against rushing plays or throws to shallow targets. That first step acceleration can be the difference in a chance at a Monster Hit or not.

It's actually probably more useful from a Deep zone than it is from a M2M player that's generally always moving around too fast for it to fire.

Problem is I don't have really high power tackle...although they are maxing out. Their quickness is very high to power first step, plus first step is used for PDs, KLs and INTs.

Monster Hit is a tough thing to incorporate on a non-S*. It's hard to invest into strength attribute enough to get it high enough to be useful without significantly butchering some other aspect of a build.
