It's also the only benefit for the defense I can see from it.

Interesting. Does the rattle hold random guys? Like will it call the te in even if he isn't checked by the oc?

Can we get an answer on this?

I could see maybe if juke wasn't fired it would be a result of carry style but once juke fires it runs the same animation no matter what. Juke needs to be toned down on the very outside to prevent that from happening... and right at the beginning of the play.

I can't tell you how many times I've watched juke backs on a pitch recieve the ball and instantly juke back inside for a TFL.

So, with this new "rattled" mechanic:

1) Pass rushing leads to opposing QB being hurried/sacked.

2) QB getting hurried/sacked leads to QB being "rattled."

3) QB being "rattled" leads to QB holding in TE/FB/HB as blockers.

4) Holding in blockers leads to a less effective pass rush by the defense.

So, this is a pass rush nerf? Is blitzing across the board overpowered and needing a nerf? It certainly didn't seem so at the seasoned level last season. I hope this wasn't an attempt at fixing Middle Overload by reducing the effectiveness of all blitzes when the real problem was people spamming one specific broken play over and over.

My main question: is there a negative effect on the QB from being "rattled" like reduced pocket awareness, pass accuracy, anything at all?

I guess I can see rattling certain QBs in certain offenses as beneficial to the defense when you luck into them randomly holding their receiving TEs in to block. However, as it stands now it's a "win" about 90% of the time for defenses when you force a check down to a HB or FB that's running a route because they either flat out drop the pass, catch it for a yard and fall over, or get tackled immediately after the catch.

Have Corndog or Bort ever answered why catching short passes and screens is so hard, and why it always causes the receiver to fall over even if it does get caught? This isn't just HBs with no catching we're talking about, this is also WRs that catch 20 yard bombs into double coverage all the time.

New QB rattled mechanic? At this point in the game the QB has been sacked 1 time and hurried twice, neither on the current drive. Available options to hold in as extra blockers checked are HB and FB not TE. He holds in both the TE and the HB on this play vs a non blitz, sending 3 men out including a FB and only a single WR vs 7 defenders.

Doesn't quite seem working as intended. Unless the intent was to completely kill off Big I throws (not like they were even a thing before really).

It does.

And it's going to take more than getting hurried a couple times in the first quarter to affect much.

I'd guess it's a huge buff if you don't mind getting sacked a dozen or so times.

Didn't seem to take all that much for it to come up.

Guess that answers my first question which is cool. However only being hurried 4 times and sacked once is a bit silly to be holding in that many players.
