The opposing QB was held to 43.1% completions and still put up 400 yards.

I'm through trying to use any logic with you

you always put up the worst examples ever, that have zero relevancy to the discussion

to be fair, you're pointing out that you're not having issues with pass defense against terrible-mediocre passing attacks. This will change soon enough though. The process of LL, Air Raid, and Atlantic displacing Salty and Hawaii in the ranking should be completed relatively soon. You'll get some real passing attack tests soon enough.

How does pointing at a game where the QB had a low completion rate but still put up a bunch of yards have no relevancy to your claim that completion percentages matter?

I would say the defense that gave up 400 yards through the air actually played pretty well... low completion %, high hurries, high sacks, caused 4 turnovers, only gave up 13 points

if anything you're making my point for me that yardage means less than completion percentage, therefor a horrible example and attempt to back your statement

Okay. I understand what you were saying. Let's try it like this then, using bhall's journeyman team (definite passing) as an example:

Against Maine Snails:
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/game/65305

Against Alpine:
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/game/67401

Those two games get right at completion percentage being irrelevant.

I put together a defense for Maine. I knew going in I wasn't going to stop him with sacks because you aren't going to get that many sacks against a good QB. Instead, I decided I was going to max pressure in order to make sure he wasn't throwing bombs that lead to long scores. If bhall was going to beat me, he was going to have to do it by making lots of long drives with no mistakes.

The net result of my defense was that I still gave up 60% completions because short passes are easier to complete and 481 yards. But we won because it's really hard to put together long drives without making critical mistakes like a fumble, interception, or a sack on 3rd down.

Alpine, on the other hand, went with the same boring defense everyone "knows" you're supposed to use at journeyman level. Maybe blitz on first down. Play coverage on second. Then blitz on 3rd and long or coverage on 3rd and short/medium. Yawn.

The result of that was Alpine actually allowed almost 20% fewer completions. Good right? Except they allowed over 100 yards more offense and 38 more points.

If your claim that reception rates mattered, how did the team that allowed 60% completions do so much better than the team that only allowed 40% completions? And why is that neither defense was able to hold bhall to the kind of yardage your team does against its competition?

Using Alpine, the first team I have seen in Journeyman make that many f up's tackling my players after the catch, is a reeeeally bad example...

It would be somewhat akin to what the Lounge teams already are....

Uh...they're a top 20 overall team.

Do you see why I spend so much time rolling my eyes when y'all dismiss my examples?

Big difference between top 20 and top 5.

It's not my fault y'all haven't played any top 5 teams except Maine

So what I'm taking from this is that there is exactly no team you just won't dismiss for some reason or other as a bad example, and that the only thing that matters to you is what your team does.

Okay. We'll table this discussion until after Air Raid puts 600 yards up on you...

you might be waiting a while... I believe late March (very beginning of season 2) is the last time we've given up 300 pass yards in a game that matters, and it was a shutout win
