4. The mismatch between play calling being locked to offensive formations and tactics being tied to down and distance.
In fact, I hate everything about defenses being locked to offensive formations. We need to be able to override that if the situation calls for a different defense.
I'd also really like to be able to lock my best cover guy on the WR1 slot for an entire game, or if I know a team has a speedy receiver, I put my fastest man cover guy on him. I'd like to be able to run zone coverage and know that I'm not going to end up with 3 guys covering one guy while all the other WR's run free. I'd like to be able to have my MLB spy either the QB or HB for an entire game so that the silly outside pitch plays don't come down to just hoping the DE or OLB actually plays contain and doesn't get blocked for the mere .01 seconds it seems to take before an HB is free to turn the corner.
Basically, I want to be able to call defenses like an actual defensive coordinator.
+1
Too much actual football sense explained here. Very great and obvious points, but with the current level of coders, this is above the understanding of the staff to implement.

Havne't noticed any difference on offense as far as scoring goes...just can't stop anyone else from scoring.

This is a simple game. If you want the in depth control then GLB Classic is a click away

Of course you can't.

There is a difference between simple and broken.

Yea youre right we should have more plays to 5 wide among other formations. But some people are asking for some advanced stuff

They really should have just scrapped 5 WR way back in the day all together when they had to spend season after season building the oline/dline interaction around it.

There are a few things that make defense extremely hard. (Not in any particular order)
1. The inability to see who our coverage assignments are.
2. Doubling certain receivers while others run free.
3. The inability to defend SB Spread due to our limited 4WR playcall. (Example of how D playcall selection =/= O playcall in terms of volume and coverage. SB spread is just an example of our limitations by #ofWRs)
etc. (I will continue to add more as we discuss ITT)
The 3 above are definitely fixable and it sort of skews the game toward the offensive side of things.
Earlier in the first season I was told that this is an "offensive game", but now i realize it doesn't necessarily have to be that way, and that may just be an excuse to avoid putting in the time to truly fix the problem.
On #3 I think a better solution is to give the defense checkboxes which allow "max run stop" on 3rd and 1 based on an awareness check. Essentially roll the MLB/FS/SS right into the box against the spread. Much the same way the offense should be allowed to use the checkboxes (which work questionably) to hold HB/FB/TE against a blitz.
As for #1 & #2 I'd be ok doing that if you gave the QB's with high awareness the opportunity to exploit single coverage.

I tried translating it but it gave me a headache...here goes
"Your suggestion numbers 1 & 2 are both suitable by my standards, but I feel the Quarterback reaction time may need to be adjusted as compensation so that they (the QBs) can exploit single coverages across the board, because many defenses may perform "man-to-man" defensive maneuvers against all eligible receivers, and blitz their final two free guys to the QB on every play, off the outside edge.
Additionally, I feel that suggestion number 3 could be fixed simply by using a "checkbox" similar to to the ones that offensive tactics have, in regard to keeping players back to block. This defensive "checkbox," however, determines where your safeties and linebacker align before the snap on third and short and fourth and short.. This would cause the safeties and linebacker to play closer to the line of scrimmage."

Really like that idea, the offense has the ability to make changes due to blitzes. Give the defense the ability to notice 3rd and Short with some type of Awareness checks and stack the box.
