This is retarded. Build your own crap.

Logically, with the limited SP's we have received thus far, you would have to be a moron to have a "bad" build in comparison to DD. The issues are building a cohesive team that is active and sticks to the plan AND good AI's.

Maybe you should passively accuse him of looking at your playbooks and beg to see his...

Move to NGTH /thread

Did you learn to play GLB on your own, or did other people show you how to build? People are WAY overrating their own strategic abilities, ITT.

You are trying to guilt someone who is having success into opening their build. That's not how growth works.

You experiment yourself, like we did. I'm still experimenting. I'm pretty sure I've revealed that my 50 Tackling Tech, 50 Power Tackling DBs aren't knocking anything loose and allowing way too many passes. That's a failed build. I learned from that and now I can respec or rebuild.

The whole point of glb is to find your own builds till you get one right. It's like trying to copy the smart kids hw instead of doing the hw yourself

Not all of us had the luxury to experiment on the test server like you did. Also, I don't get to sit in the room with the coders and give input that will make better players more in line with my own intuition.

He has the right to not share his build, but I certainly have the right to ask.

There is no stated goal of GLB. Would you look down upon a chess player who studied the openings of past champions?

To me, applying and building upon what others learned is what smart kids do. Otherwise, we would still be trying to figure out which shape wheels roll the best.

I could be wrong on this, but I believe the Current Top 4 ladder ranked teams are teams that were not testers. You have to do a lot of experiments and AI testing to find what works...the good news is that all is extremely easy in GLB2. You got a crappy player? Retire him and make a new one at the exact same levels(SPs). Just run some bad plays? Take them out and rerun a sim. This game is a lot less time consuming than GLB1.

You can make that top 5.

All bhall has done is make an offense and he hasn't really influenced our builds at all. The rest is my defense and dawts built from non-testers. We were not testers.

That's sound logic. But we need "past" champions before this can even happen... we're not even done with the first season. I'm sure once people consistently win and get bored of it at the top... the builds will trickle down. Until then, mystery.

And we have the right to mock you for asking, especially when you include some "subtle" statements that DD is capable of cheating and thus owes you, or all of us, the information, as if you are doing it for some greater good rather than your own desire to get build details of other players so as to have more information to learn from.

If I wanted it only for myself, I would have PMed him. I still think it is the right thing to do, and he does not. Thus is life.

As an admin and owner, he is in a very unique position, as he does have access to all our information, has tested the game, AND is a party who influences how the game mechanics work. Knowing what he values as a builder gives some insight into what he lobbied for as being important to player success. Being privy to conversations during development and testing would be an advantage. I was simply asking for everyone to have the same information.

Also, let's not kid ourselves, I am here because I enjoy the game and because I enjoy the people. That includes Bort, DD, Cornblade, and the rest. Let's not pretend they have been paragons of transparency, though. I do not think they are cheaters, but I do think they need a nudge towards being open and transparent.

I mean, "I like my privacy" is the funniest line uttered on this message board all week.

A little of both, but I didn't go around accusing people of cheating or begging them in a public forum to open their builds. I asked questions of people personally, usually by PM but sometimes in team forums. And I watched my own Dots and built them based on what helped.

And throughout the testing phase, I posted everything I learned as I learned it on the GLBMain forum.

I did what I could to get people up to date on what was going on, what was working, etc.

There were a lot of changes from the last test iteration to what is presently on the live server, so any advantage we might have had (testing against a very small sample size) has clearly gone out the door.

I'd rather DD kept what he knows (or thinks he knows) about this game to himself, same with Bort. The game is more fun the less 'sure' people are of how things work.

This scenario (Making a game, then cheating at the game you made in order to beat strangers on the internet) sounds like the actions of an insane person...

Where did I accuse anyone of cheating? Have I ever accused admins of looking at builds or tactics, reading PMs, having multi's, or in some way influencing the outcome of a sim? No.
