First I would agree with LE that builds play a far bigger role than most give credit for. The art of Coor is taking advantage of those builds and or minimizing their weaknesses.
And as far as Gerr needing help to get there so what. How many good coor's and agents are on Maine. RK mentioned 3 or 4. The only thing I have helped Gerr with is focus. Just the fact of taking over the O gave him more time to tweak and pay attention to his defense. He and I have different philosophies on defense so I try to stay out of it. I posted my build method but I don't know how many actually followed it other then myself and chiwanna. But it was just the method no comments on the builds other than on the O players. His defense carried us in game 1 and was stellar in game 3 of the playoffs. So he certainly deserves credit. It is by no means a Bevo only thing........
I didn't ask for a name change because it is not my team. I joined his team not the other way around. And that is not something I really care about. People know I moved to the Bears. If I have success running the O then people will know it whether it is the 85 bears or the 85 pimpin bears or whatever. So in the end he could change the name to ABCDEFG for all I care. Note: he did offer to make me co-owner but I declined for the same reasons above
Last I have respect for RK (even though he does come off the wrong way sometimes) and Maine. I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they are just having a little fun. And even if they aren't then too bad for us. They have the title and until some one takes it away from them then they can talk a little smack. If you don't like the smack talk then beat em and shut them up.
I expect a heck of game from these guys in the finals and hope to put up a better effort than last season. Best of luck to Maine and I hope we win all the RNG's Yeah I agree and disagree since from coordinators that had to play with the build disadvantage throughout their career know that coordinating is more important (ask Dead.Ed). I know it's hard for some people to realize how difficult it is to play under-leveled oppose to teams that always had the luxury of building all the players themselves which is pretty much a double edge.
The fact that we have guys like dead.ed and recently legster, really proves that game planning is far superior. I know the builds make the job that much easier but at the end if you had to choose from superior builds or game planning, I'll take the later. But that's just matter of opinion so I'm not forcing it to anyone. But I think I proved my point last season.
And I don't know how many times I repeat this but it was really a joke to light heartily poke fun of Gerr. I think it's pretty clear who leads the me-threads in gold so I thought this would be the right time to make fun of him.
Also, I don't think anyone outside of his circle really takes any of my statements the wrong way. I just think they should just learn how to take jokes and friendly jabs and not get too upset about it. They are very good at throwing one on their own, I don't know why it's so hard to take it in return. And I don't think anyone really smash talked in our side except for sigmike but trust me, he is probably the least serious guy out of this.
It would be crazy as a defensive minded coordinator like myself to neglect Gerr's contribution. I always preached that defense is the one that wins games whether it's GLB or real life football, so that pretty much sums up how I really feel. It is what it is 50/50, nothing more or less.
By the way, you guys have done a wonderful job this season so I wish the best luck for your team. This is one of those seasons where I would feel really guilty getting the trophy if we do win since I haven't really done anything. All the credit goes to our coordinators.
I think it's going to be a hard fought battle and it should go either way. GL to both coordinators that are involved!
