Dude, you did yourself a huge disservice by not seeing the USA vs Canada hockey game.

As for why it struggles compared to the big three in the US, I cannot fathom why that is- ofc I live near Detroit the only city in the USA that has a NHL franchise that is more popular than it's NBA franchise

Minneapolis? The T-wolves haven't been relevant since they traded Garnett.

Of course, Minnesota is 3/4 Canada anyway. I think we're just leasing the land from them.

Well that's true.

Not really. We Americans are all actually poets by heart. Which also explains the gaping difference in the number of poet laureates between the two countries. And spare me any more of those so-called "facts".. until Canada can put out quality poetry like "Memories of Geisha" and "The Last Anus on Earth" I don't want to hear about it.

or

b) The US wins the gold next weekend over Canada (as I believe that's how the seedings play out).

I dunno, I think it matters either way check this out-

a) USA doesn't have to play Canada, because they got eliminated by Russia

or

b) USA doesn't have to play Russia, because they got eliminated by Canada

My point behind the comment was simply that, if the US loses to Russia in the final, it's all good because they beat Canada in RR. Not to mention the whole lack of medal for Canada if it goes down that way.

It was a roundabout way for me to rationalize the USA's win last night as an American who understands round robin is just that - round robin. Relevant because the probable course for the US to get to the GMG is Switzerland and Finland.

Not easy, but no one's going to mistake them for Russia and Sweden.

Canada has the talent to win the gold, but now they have to run the gauntlet. If they get it, boy will they have earned it this week.

Canadian bacon compared to regular bacon is not as good. Healthier, sure, but fat taste better!

This! I mitigate the fat by trying to buy center cut bacon.

Sh*t, who am I kidding? O_o

I can watch women's curling, because of the women, and plus they don't throw 12,000 rocks an end like the men do. Men's curling is worse then baseball which is worse then watching paint dry.

If you didn't watch any hockey yesterday, you missed out. Things were all pretty lol until yesterday's games. Things got serious yesterday. The violence in the US/Canada game was high octane, and the hitting in the Czech/Russia game was just a step behind.

You'll see way more exciting hockey in the Olympics because it's not a long and drawn out 82 game season like the NHL. Oh and no TV timeouts. Games actually take only 2 hours.

probably because while ppl near the great lakes and new england / NY / PA care about hockey, nobody else really does. As such, we can't get that excited over playing fucking San Jose...the league is too large and has too many shitty teams with terrible fan bases. Shit =/= W/L record. You shouldn't be allowed to have an NHL team if your kids can't fucking go skating outdoors for at least one straight month of the year.

Only women's sport I watch is hockey. 22 hardbodies with no teeth? What's *not* to love?
