Great write up once again. I don't think Nairobi hit a slump. In a prior post, I stated that there are 4 or 5 teams capable of winning it all in the conference. While Somali is clearly the class of the field, these other teams are more than capable of making a run at the top and I think this season shows that. By playoff time, with team chemistry pretty much equal for all teams, there may be a few "surprises".

WEEK 14 RANKINGS

The Fine Four
1 Somali Pirates (14-0) - Big matchup up next for Somali. A win against Sterling guarantees them a perfect regular season. Then it's on to the playoffs where anything can happen. Next games: Sterling, Carolina

2 Sterling Bulldawgs (12-2) - The Bulldawgs are on a 7 game win streak and will try to keep it going another week as they face off #1 Somali. With Nile up after that their playoff seeding is anything but guaranteed. A slip-up in the next 2 weeks could see them fall as far as the 4th seed. Next games: Somali, Nile

3 Cybertron War Machine (11-3) - A resounding win over Nile keeps the War Machine in the hunt for the #2 seed and could also have cost Nile a playoff spot. It's easy to see Cybertron finishing up 13-3. Next game: Algeria, West Coast

4 Nairobi Death Squad (10-4) - Teetering on the edge of a top 4 spot with the Aces and Bandits one game back might worry other teams. Nairobi is guaranteed an 11-5 finish at worst though. If they do what they need to against BURUNDI a 12-4 finish is the most likely scenario and a top 4 seed. Next week: BURUNDI, West Nile

Middle of the Road
5 West Yorkshire Bandits (9-5) - A tough loss against Fulham most likely cost the Bandits a top 4 seed for the playoffs. With Alexandria up next could they slip even further in the standings? They'll make the playoffs and be a tough 1st round draw but where they end up is up in the air so they need a win against Alexandria. Next game: Alexandria, Hungry

6 Alexandria Crimson Evil Aces (9-5) - Like most of the top seeded teams the Aces have 1 tough game followed by a cupcake team. They'll need to really need to step it up this week to get over the Bandits and avoid getting muddled in the 5-8 seeds where things are very tight right now. After going 2-4 against teams in the top 8 this season can they improve that mark this week. Next game: West Yorkshire, Saskatoon

7 BURUNDI BUCSH WARRIORS (9-5) - Tough road ahead of the WARRIORS. With Nairobi and Fulham on tap they could end up playing spoiler to one of these teams. Odds are in BURUNDI's favor to make the playoffs but with so many important games this week the question again has to be where they will fall in the seeding. Next game: Nairobi, Fulham

8 Fulham Flying Hellfish (8-6) - An incredible win over the Bandits keeps Fulham alive in the playoff race. The only challenge left is BURUNDI in 2 weeks and a lot could be riding on that game as Fulham will be 9-6 at that point. Next game: Saskatoon, BURUNDI

9 Nile Crocodiles (7-7) - The Crocs couldn't get it done against Cybertron and now they face a tough battle to make the playoffs. They have to win both of their last games and hope the other teams above them stumble the next 2 weeks. I don't like their chances at having both happen though and it's most likely that Nile will have to start looking towards what areas to improve for next season. Next game: LHC, Sterling

10 Algeria Dune Hoppers (6-8) - I think we can easily say that Algeria will only make it to 7-9 this season. They've had a rocky season with some highs and lows. The lows coming in the shape of 4 shutout losses and their high being a week 2 victory against Nile. Algeria has a future however. While not quite top 8 material yet they are better than just about every middle of the pack team. Next game: Cybertron, LHC

11 Hungry Hungry Hippos (5-9) - Another hard loss for the Hippos. The last 5 games have not been kind to Hungry but now they get to take out their frustrations for a week against Carolina. Next game: Carolina, West Yorkshire

12 Carolina Flying Tigers (4-10) - Done for the season. Next game: Hungry, Somali

Bottom Four
13 West Nile Mosquitos (2-12) - One last chance for a win this week. Next game: West Coast, Nairobi

14 Saskatoon Vulcanos (2-12) - Stat padders rejoice! Next game: Fulham, Alexandria

15 West Coast Rage (1-13) - See West Nile. Next game: West Nile, Cybertron

16 LHC Naked Turtles (0-14) - THE END. Next game: Nile, Algeria

WEEK 15 RANKINGS

The Fine Four
1 Somali Pirates (15-0) - 16-0 right around the corner after a dominating performance against Sterling. Next game: Carolina

2 Sterling Bulldawgs (12-3) - After an embarrassing loss the Bulldawgs have to come away with the win against Nile or they'll drop to the #4 seed. Next game: Nile

3 Cybertron War Machine (12-3) - With a bye week coming up Cybertron will be focused on Sterlings game to see if they pick up the 2 seed. Next game: West Coast

4 Nairobi Death Squad (11-4) - Nairobi is in the same boat as Cybertron with a bye week game and a lot riding on a Sterling loss. Next game: West Nile

Middle of the Road
5 Alexandria Crimson Evil Aces (10-5) - A dominating performance against the Bandits only gave them a 1 point win. You have to wonder how the game would have gone if the Bandits had mounted some offense. Next game: Saskatoon

6 West Yorkshire Bandits (9-6) - The Bandits are on a tough little skid right now. After a big win over Nairobi they've dropped the last 2 games. They'll still finish 10-6 though unless Hungry breaks out some secret weapons. Next game: Hungry

7 BURUNDI BUCSH WARRIORS (9-6) - A loss won't affect their standings this week since they have a big game against Fulham next week. Next game: Fulham

8 Fulham Flying Hellfish (9-6) - Big match-up against BURUNDI that will see the loser of the game facing off against Somali in the 1st round. Next game: BURUNDI

9 Nile Crocodiles (8-7) - It will be very tough and tricky for Nile to sneak into the playoffs. First, they need to win against Sterling. On top of that, the only team they have a head to head tiebreaker against is Fulham so they have to be rooting for BURUNDI to take them down this week. Next game: Sterling

10 Algeria Dune Hoppers (6-9) - One win left this season. Next game: LHC

11 Hungry Hungry Hippos (6-9) - After an easy win they have to face the Bandits this week. Next game: West Yorkshire

12 Carolina Flying Tigers (4-11) - Done for the season. Next game: Somali

Bottom Four
13 West Nile Mosquitos (3-12) - Top dogs of the bottom dwellers. Next game: Nairobi

14 Saskatoon Vulcanos (2-13) - Stat padders rejoice! Next game: Alexandria

15 West Coast Rage (1-14) - Another stat padding loss to end the season. Next game: Cybertron

16 LHC Naked Turtles (0-15) - THE END. Next game: Algeria

I am fairly certain the playoff lineup is going to look just like it does right now.

WEEK 16 RANKINGS

The Elite 8
1 Somali Pirates (16-0) - There have been blowouts and not many close games for the Pirates this season. Week after week they came out and handled their business with their closest game being a 7 point win over Cybertron. No other team kept it within 15 points all season. Now they've hit the perfect regular season. In one week we'll find out if they can carry that success throughout the playoffs and represent Lion in the big one. Next game: BURUNDI

2 Sterling Bulldawgs (13-3) - After going 7-9 last season the Bulldawgs didn't know what to expect out of this season. The competition looked just as good, if not better on a few teams. They've reveled in close victories and suffered through close defeats to get to this point. With the #2 seed up for grabs this week they went back to basics and ran the ball to get a win and secure their seeding. With the Bandits coming to town the question is was it worth it and will they be able to recreate their earlier success against them. Next game: West Yorkshire

3 Cybertron War Machine (13-3) - A close loss to Sterling hurt Cybertron in the standings. Now they have to get set to face off against a team they beat by 1 point early on in the season. Will Cybertron be able to do the same against a red hot Fulham team. Next game: Fulham

4 Nairobi Death Squad (12-4) - Nairobi went 3 for 3 against playoff teas in the first half of the season but then went 1 for 4 in the second half. They're going to have face off against one of those 3 teams they lost to in the first round when they try to advance by Alexandria. Next game: Alexandria

5 Alexandria Crimson Evil Aces (11-5) - One of the holdover teams from AAA last season and it's no surprise to see them make the playoffs. Next game: Nairobi

6 Fulham Flying Hellfish (10-6) - Big win over BURUNDI vaults the Hellfish up the rankings and out of the dreaded 8 seed. They've been tearing it up the last 8 weeks with only 2 losses to the 1 & 2 seeds. They'll try their hardest to avenge a 1 point loss earlier in the season. Next game: Cybertron

7 West Yorkshire Bandits (10-6) - The Bandits are going to be looking to avenge a 71-9 loss when they last faced Sterling. It was hard to imagine a playoff team at that point with their record at 1-3 after the first month but an impressive turnaround has seen them playing some of their best football over the rest of the season. Next game: Sterling

8 BURUNDI BUCSH WARRIORS (9-7) - A tough loss in week 16 drops BURUNDI to 8th seed and now they'll have to try and topple the giant in the first round. Next game: Somali

The Almost There's
9 Nile Crocodiles (8-8) - Nile's chances were slim to make the playoffs and once Fulham won it didn't matter what Nile did.

10 Algeria Dune Hoppers (7-9) - Something to build on here.

11 Hungry Hungry Hippos (6-10) - Another team that has a good start and should compete next season or two.

The Cellar Dwellers
12 Carolina Flying Tigers (4-12)
13 West Nile Mosquitos (3-13)
14 Saskatoon Vulcanos (2-14)
15 West Coast Rage (1-15)
16 LHC Naked Turtles (0-16)
