If you aren't good enough to win the hardest Silver league in 2-3 seasons, what makes you think you should be in Gold?

The whole point of keeping people in the same league is to promote rivalries amongst those who stay. I'm not sure that everyone cares enough about being Gold to get rid of those wonderful rivalries.

Problem is that for those teams who just are not good enough to move up, they play pretty much the same teams season after season and that can get old. A shuffle of teams keeps things fresh. It might benefit some and hurt others, but IMO, it keeps things interesting.

I was just wondering about the Gold demotion situation and had this thought. Considering that the bottom 4 teams from each conference drop back to Silver. With so many teams announcing they are quitting or going cpu that finished higher than the bottom 4, I'd like to make this suggestion.

Instead of draining the Silver leagues of runners up to be moved to Gold, how about if there is a team announcing they are quitting or going cpu, they take the place of one of the 4 bottom teams. That bottom 4 team gets to stay in Gold. I think a team who spent 1 season in Gold already may have a better idea what is needed to succeed in Gold than a 2nd place Silver team.

or just don't get in the bottom 4 and bring on more new challengers each season. i'd rather see more new teams move up anyhow.

I agree. I typically favor any gold team over a silver team...but it would be pretty cruddy to see some 2 or 3 win teams staying in gold. Without a reshuffle, teams moving up and down is about as close as you can get...so I support more movement.

Says the guy who got into Gold going through one of the weaker Silver leagues....no disrespect because you have definitely proven you belong in Gold, but let's not kid ourselves on the strength of your league.

I think a shuffle has merit simply because it evens out the strength of the leagues so that you don't end up with the current situation of two stacked leagues in S1 and S7 that realistically could be winning other leagues. Let's face it, the longer this goes on the stronger the competition becomes; in Gold's first year their own league wasn't as strong as it is now and we saw the same thing in Silver. A couple seasons later and the strength of the average team is much greater thanks to the elimination of day 31's and the roller.

We need to bring this up to Bort so he can reshuffle all the silver teams when he is doing the team reallignment. If I was in Silver, Id like to play differnt competiton each season. As mentioned some leagues are easier than others.

Then make it an optional shuffle. Teams would be able to choose the option of remaining in their league or being randomly placed in another one. Was old L10 tough? Damn right. Would we have been nearly as tough if we had to keep shuffling and playing new teams every season? Depends who got shuffled into L10.

I get that my league didn't have the depth to keep me out of Gold, but TW came up through that same league and is doing just fine in Gold as well. Meanwhile some of the 'tougher' conferences aren't thriving in Gold either.

My gut says no...but I could be wrong.

Utah got in this year after going 15 - 1 last season and losing to the ninja squirrels in the championship.

They lost to Panama CZ Brats in the reg season

A splendid idea. I actually had that suggested but removed it (in one of my many edits) because I didn't want to 'split the vote' so to speak. The notion of a shuffle is a good one, and having it optional would be part of the implementation...at least the way I was thinking.

TBH, I wouldn't want us (Crib Midgets) to be anywhere but S7. The competition is tough but I have gotten to know many of the teams and everyone is pretty great. While Gold is still the priority, I certainly don't object to the challenge of having to go through so many good teams....even if it means waiting our turn.

Wouldn't you be ticked if you opted out of your league b/c there was a team or two you couldn't beat....and then a league like s7 had most of the top teams opt not to reshufle, and then you got thrown in there, lol. You go from 2nd place to 6th.

For sure, that is the double edged sword of the reshuffle option. To take it one step further, I also think demoted Gold teams should have the option of selecting the Silver league they will join. Making Gold is an accomplishment and perhaps a nice consolation prize of demotion would be to choose your new home...
