CONN CHRIS would say you don't need insurance. Not everyone is out to get you, only a few! No need to lock your house or your cars either, only a few people are thieves, not the majority. Your argument doesn't work for the exact reason you are claiming his argument doesn't work. Of course you should take preemptive measures to stop bad things from happening, but that doesn't mean when someone still tries to do it you shouldn't punish them.

Bort has the option to both make changes preventing this from happening again and to ban the people who did it with full knowledge that they were cheating and messing up the game for the people who do care about it. There is no reason he shouldn't do both.

2. It didn't break any rules. So it wasn't cheating.
3. This is far from the first time something like this has happened.

Messing with stats is not fucking up the game. The stats are LITERALLY MEANINGLESS. Oh no! Those meaningless stats have been fucked with! Now they're completely MEANINGLESS! Oh wait...

I hope you realize that just because stats are meaningless to you, they might not be meaningless to other people. There is a reason we keep track of stats, why we have trophies for being the league leader, why people bitch all the time about playing gutted teams, why people want to see more than just pancakes as stats for O-linemen, and why people are complaining about what BFM/Hali did. People in this game do care about stats.

Every season someone tries to one up the jerks from seasons past in some way. Hali/BFM win the prize this season they get the attention they wanted from this. And like the 3rd grader that pulls the fire alarm at school hopefully Hali/BFM will get some sort of penalty for their actions.

Everyone will not be happy with the way GLB choses to handle it. But I think for the majority of people upset by what they did as long as something is done we'll at least feel justified in that.

It's funny to read all the biased opinions, trolls, and then opinions from those who have no players or input into the games of WL ramble about how "stats don't matter" or try to rationalize the behavior of what was done. But I for one agree with you 100% Longhornfan1024 I care. I don't care who's players or what team they are from I want to see the top stats of WL players without them being manipulated. I want some type of integrity for the leagues I would think especially at WL this should be possible.

the thing is though that most of the trophies arent won from close games they are won due to beating on shitty teams.

Stats, done properly, would matter. But how, HOW, can you say that stats that are ENTIRELY dependent on how hard you smash a gutted team are of any value whatsoever?

Everyone would get to "bash" on the same teams right? These are all teams that won their Pro league or were runners up. If they get bashed then that happens under this system it's brought in several great teams as well not everyone is created equal but they are still able to compete.

If you deliberately allow a team to get smashed while not allowing the others of the league that same opportunity then you've created an uneven and skewed set of stats. Each conference has low level teams everything would have been just fine until you add something like that game into the mix.

I'll take two first since one and three are pretty similar. Bort gets to decide what's cheating. Gart went into the AI of a team his team was about to play and changed their game so that it would be a blow out and his players could rack up huge individual statistics. There may not be a list of actions that are cheating and actions that are not cheating, but I think everyone agrees (and more importantly Bort agrees) that what he did was cheating. Even if it isn't cheating per se, it was an attempt to ruin the game for others, which is a banable offense if it's to the extent that Bort deems the cost of letting the agents stay is less than the cost of banning them.

In regards to one and three, neither of these mean that Bort shouldn't ban the agents involved for doing it this time. The fact that there was nothing in the code to prevent this and that it has happened before without repercussions might have given them a feeling of invincibility when decided to do what they did, but it doesn't change the fact that they what they were doing was wrong and it doesn't excuse their actions. This time just happened to be at a scale that it pissed off enough people that a large response has ensued. Whether it was the straw that broke the camel's back or whether it was just at a larger scale, people are pissed, and they want Bort to do something about it. Enough is enough.

I remember back at the beginnings of slamgate we had a team run SI Slam and SI Offtackle 100% of the time for the entire season 7. Our DC put in tickets to support and multiple postings in bugs forum etc etc. as there was very little chance to stop it. (One team lucked out and beat them barely in the playoffs) The entire offseason 8 went by and this very team built around this strategy and did so AGAIN in season 8...pretty much sending a team with 30+ agents and very active participation to the round file by our DC and owner calling it a day on such a fiasco...I'm guessing you can do the math on what that type of activity by an entire team (not to mention the copycatters etc etc) did to stats, league integrity and the such.

Point is:

Yellow balloon was nowhere to be found when a AA "schlub" came a-calling for a large issue present in the game. Matter of fact, the issue wasn't resolved for 100 days (2 seasons and offseason) since said discovery and multiple contacts about it long before said resolution.

BUT...The "in crowd" in world league gets rubbed the wrong way because a team skews some stats for a wide receiver....and yellow balloon posts some crap about "lack of respect for the game and people who play it" and "going out of your way to...try and ruin the enjoyment of other users is not something that we want to see happening here" within 24 f*cking hours.
