I disagree with the DE position roles. In the games I've seen and been in, the LDE is the most common one getting to the QB, while the RDE is getting more tackles on the run and dropping into coverage more often.

An example:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=249546

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=244349

These two players were the starting DEs for the same team all of last season. Saying their builds is nearly identical would be an understatement(though he obviously had to boost at the beginning of the season to help the team be competitive after moving up in the offseason). These two mirrored each other in almost every way - which is why they're a good case study for this.

Notice the stats between the two last year. Player 1 played LDE, player 2 played RDE. I've seen this trend continue this season, and play my pass rusher at LDE on teams I have control over such things.

Not saying you're wrong, just providing evidence that roles may not be all that cut-and-dry.

I've been staring at this, but what I see lines up with LDE being the run stuffer (their right, our left), as running does seem to favour the right. In this game http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=59861&mode=pbp I moved a DE to LDE to intentionaly to try and stuff the run, and it worked. 3, 3rd down stops on his side, along with a number of other stops.

I would think getting to the cornerback can happen on either side if the team is passing. And the term "running favors the right" pretty much means it's not 100% of the time, or cut and dry.

I feel like once the injuries come into play and the Offense and Defense AI come into play the sky will be the limit. Then there real coaching starts.I can't wait. And when will penalties come into play?My RG's got a skill called hands. It's so you can use your hands without getting caught but they never call penalties. What a useless skill(for now)I wonder how many people fall for that and waste points there?(LOL)And does anyone know where I can find a chart about swapping positions and how much your points go down if any?Like OLB playing DE,DE playing DT.DT sliding outside to DE.OLB moving back to SS.DE lining up at OLB.CB playing FS,HB and TE in the slot,ETC.And when do we get trick plays?WR reverses,HB option passes. And will we ever get the option play?PLEASE someone help.Or tell me how to get in touch with Bort(I think that's he's name)

I disagree with benching any player off the depth chart unless they are inactive. That QB 6 levels lower will never get within 6 levels if he doesn't get to play, Making sure everyone gets 90% or better XP makes the entire team stronger and all you need for 90%XP is 25 plays or to be on the KOS/KRS.

Yeah, good eye. Swapping them now.

In real life its the weak side guard who lines up against nose tackles most of the time as the 3 tech tackle lines up on the wide side in most standadrd 4-3 defences.

keep in mind matchups, if most people put their run blocker on the offensive right then the defensive leftend will have less tackles but maybe better pressure and sacks, this game is simply a numbers game and matchups are the key.

may be a good time to update for the Long Snapper and the WR1-5 and CB1-5 positions.

I'm a bit confused about the new WR & CB slots.

If I put my #1 corner in the CB1 slot do I need to put his backup in there too, or do backups still stay in the 'standard' CB slot. Today one of my teams had a CB who didn't get to play because he was in the standard CB slot.

This seems to suggest you would have to put the backup in the CB1 slot doesn't it? However, on the team I GM I'd rather have my #3 CB back up at CB1 if he isn't already on the field at CB3, but after I place him in the CB3 slot his name disappears from the players I can assign to CB1

so what's going on? am i just being stupid?

can someone explain the differences and who should be placed in the new WR and CB slots ?

WR WR1 WR2 WR3 WR4 WR5
CB CB1 CB2 CB3 CB4 CB5

i'm a little confused as to what the difference is between WR/CB and the WR1.../CB1.. slots in the depth chart.

also, is there a list as to which positions are allowed to play in other positions with and without penalty #'s and what the penalty #s are ?

thanks

To be honest I don't even use them, I think they're good if you want to say lock a particular CB in the nickel spot but the normal ones work great.

As for RILB and LILB the same applies at least imo as the regular MLB spot, the only difference is you might want one that is better at blitzing than the other to offset the loss of a DT.

I don't personally play the 3-4 or use the new wr/cb settings just out of ease of use.

Officially updated.

The guide needs to be updated/corrected on how to use the WR1-5 and the CB1-5 slots. It is correct in warning against their use, but it should also be correct on how the slots are used, especially given advanced energy settings that can sometimes force the AI to search for a sub where none exists.
