Cocky to me is going on and on about how good you are when you don't belong in this league (according to the recommended levels). Sure you will win a lot of games, we know that. But acting like it is a surprise when you do or that you are amazing for beating up on kids half your age is what I find tactless. Just enjoy it and move on and let others talk about you. Otherwise it is cocky. Cocky doesn't have humility and that is what makes it jerkish. You guys outlevel almost everyone and it shows. There are 4 teams just like you. 2 from last season, one that dropped, and one that promoted. To me Liverpool has had class and the Templars. I wish we heard from them more often, but they aren't bragging when a team of 40s defeat a league with the average level of 28-32.

You know? Anyway, do your thing the way you guys like it, but yeah that is why I don't have as much respect. Good luck in A tournament and represent our league well!

And as I told you before, Rob, before 3 teams were promoted last season, this was an extremely competitive division for a team with an average level of 32 at the time. Portland had a few high levels drop in our lap in the offseason, primarily because we're a tight-knit group. The good news for us is that we'll be competitive right out of the gate next season in AA, because that group is all on board with the long-term goal.

Last season, we all went without EQ upgrades to give JT a chance to get the stadium caught up. This year, we're still holding back on EQ to make sure the team is long-term solvent.

No one from Portland is bragging on how great we are. We all were let down by the snub last season, when the other three top teams got promoted and we were left back. It's like getting held back in 9th grade. It sucks. So we take advantage of the fact that we and Liverpool are pretty much the cream of the crop in this division and we work on fixing what slowed us down - primarily our stadium and our tactics issues.

Don't hate us for being not quite good enough to get to the next level last year. You'll find out next year how hard it is to make that leap, when teams like Salzburg, Razorback, and Bad Bay will be right there on the same level as you and you'll have to gameplan perfectly to beat them, and you and those two teams will be competing with Birmingham, the Ravens, and the Nationals on the other side of the league for 3-4 promotion spots.

The margin is razor-thin when there's a good group at the top. That's what happened to Portland last year, and you can plan on that happening next year. The question is, is it a blessing or a curse to be the one left behind?

Secretville is 2-8. Warsaw? 1-9. The Raptors (team that knocked us out first round last year) are the only ones of the three having success, at 8-2 in the Alpha conference.

Frankly, I'd rather hang a trophy in the case before I move up and be ready to compete when I get there.

I agree with that completely. I hate it when a team gets the 'courtesy' nod to move up. If they're not ready they're not ready... not sure what else can be done with all the sold back teams though.

Well, that's a much bigger problem in A than AA. You see, we've had two teams go CPU this year and at least 4 others that are "super slow build" and will be relegated, so the quality of competition is a bit sketchy at this level. For the most part, it's the haves and the have nots, and the haves are always grouped up, because they're the ones that got promoted last season from BBB and have good networks of agents that bring on the necessary talent to be powerful when they move up.

You'd be amazed at how many people that have been playing this game MUCH longer than me haven't figured this shit out.

Oh - and I've never even owned a team.

Yeah I don't remember anyone bragging about smashing the roid pushers.

Take that 80+ pt loss! Nah, that's not what has been happening.

Last season lots of friendly word play but it was different. We had a much tougher conference and people respected each other because they knew any of the 6 could beat you any given game.

To Rob aka Megaphone -
If you want I can start a thread for Liverpool,Tallin, and the Niners to talk so we won't get in the way of w/e it is you're doing.

Oh I know.........way too many people just go through the motions instead of actually trying to be the best team they can. The ones that make that extra commitment seperate themselves, and you can tell which teams those are in due time.

Rob is the type of guy who is a fan of the Kansas City Royals, and their 20 million dollar payroll that never competes. Then he gets pissed at other teams for actually spending money, yet his own team does nothing to try and compete.

We went out and actually got players so we could win, and start moving up. Because of this philosophy, we have *GASP* beein winning and are on the way of hopefully moving up!

WHAT A STRATEGY!

Must be cocky to have a winning strategy. Is that what the Red Sox have? The Patriots? Steelers? Cardinals? They have a cocky strategy for actually doing what they are supposed to?

Yeah, I know the story. My side is Otis and I got trashed for saying we would meet in the championship, then got told that BBB teams were garbage. It's fine, but someone doesn't want to let this thing die.

JTS, someone was bragging about points on defense scored being more than points given up. Its a cool stat, but what do you expect? Also, someone was bragging about beating one team that had the same levels as your team. Looked like an even match up and not worth going into all the celebration, no matter what league that were in, imo. Dude you can chill already too, but if not we can keep this up all season.

You don't know what your talking about man. I've done it both ways (stay together or recruit high levels), but the difference is that when my team didn't win it all we asked to promote instead of beat up on under leveled teams.

I hate the Patriots, you got that one right.

Cocky is your bad attitude not your strategy. I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Oh, and I wasn't talking about points scored on defense compared to points scored period.

I was talking about yards.

I also qualified it by saying that it was largely a product of the competition. I don't think you have a bad strategy for this season in the least. Especially if you get a home game. I don't care about your team, there's a very good chance that Apocalypse and Portland will never play anyway.
