Easily the most exciting head to head match up available this game week. Both Medan
and Taiping have had plenty of opportunity to work the bugs out of their schemes and
improve the level of their play. Both teams protect the QB well but who will move the ball?

Chengdu Vipers at 69Mafia
Chengdu quietly wins 4 in a row and launches themselves into 5th place for an immediate
showdown with a battleweary 69Mafia. Chengdu may be better than you think, despite having
been quiet around the bottom of the rankings this season. I'd easily rate this game as going
either way.

Shhhhhhhhhhh.

I'm in the prelim of scouting Chengdu -- just generating the data sheets. Who knew they lead the league in rushing yards/attempt. Brickwall McCall has over 3000 yards for the season, and he's got to be looking forward to the Mafia matchup. Their middle of the road pass defense should be able to handle anything Dirk Diggler can throw at them (pun intended).

But will 69 be able to wear down the league's #1 rusher? Are Brickwall's numbers a red herring? Is the fact that he has over 2000 yards against 5 teams, and 1000 yards against the other 9 teams indicative of something? What about his 17 yard performance against Taiping?

69 will respond rushing at the obvious hole in Chengdu's starting lineup -- Is this hole in fact a trap? Chengdu held Christopher Diaz to 117 yards and only 12 broken tackles -- numbers I respect greatly. But 69's 2 headed rushing attack spreads out the impact (pun intended) of monster hits and other demoralizers on 2 backs. I think there will be a surprisingly good performance by Samson Diesel.

2 old SE Asia AA #3 foes meet again. I'm not sure what the series is at, but I expect a close game. I give the nod to 69. Neither team will get many defensive stops, but I think 69 gets one more, and that will be the difference. 69 wins 47-41.

This is a pretty big game for both these teams because their last games are not gimmes -- Chengdu looks to ruin Ujung's perfect season, and the Mafia get the up and coming Falcons, who know the playoffs are a realistic goal and are pulling out all the stops...

------
Taiping at Medan. OOOOOOH! You can't ask for a better matchup. If you like football (and I know you do) you've gotta love the chess match that this game will be. I've sort of been aware that Taiping has really stepped things up offensively since our game which SUCKS for me. And Medan is constantly changing too. I'm looking forward to see how these innovative franchises analyze the other.

Some might argue that this is a meaningless game for Medan, but I think there is significant motivation to not end up the 4th seed, and possibly have a 2nd round game against Ujung. Sure you gotta beat the best to win, but we all like to get deep into the playoffs too. Or I imagine I'd like that, since Ujung has never been past the 2nd round....

Taiping's new offensive wrinkles can't be smoothed out by Medan's Iron defense. Taiping 37-24

I've been wanting to speak up on how well the Vipers have been doing but I was liking the "under the radar" thing we had goin till Sahoj brought it up. 5 of the Vipers 6 losses have come by a TD or less. We are one play away in each of those games from being 13-1 right now. Unfortunately we didnt make those plays the first time around. I feel that we are getting better and better. Maybe we can make more of our chances in the playoffs. In Brick's defense I must say that his carries were limited during the first 3 games. So that 1000 yards in the other 9 games is a little misleading. Brick is one of those players that rides the pine for several seasons and then something just happens and all of a sudden he is the go to guy. A great OL and FB have been a huge part of his success. Not to mention a great OC. He very much so looks forward to proving himself against the best competition in the playoffs.

Hey guys thanks for thinking of the Rangers in a lot of these Battles To bad we couldn't stand up and make a much better showing of it. This whole season has been really tough for us but I like how we look for next season. We are already recruiting some new talent and hope to make a much better run for the Championship this next season

Head Coach and DC of the Bacolod Rangers

I just checked out some things with 69. They have allowed only 2 backs to rush for over 100 yards this season with the highest being a 128 yards performance by Maybe Next Time Foo. Unjung has allowed no 100 yard rushers all season. Brick has had over 100 yards in 9 consecutive games. Something has gotta give. It will be very interesting to see how he performs against these good rush D's. I'm excited.

If you guys feel I missed a potentially exciting match: Feel free to post them up.

This thread is really just a hook to get teams talking.

(and maybe for fishdan to vent, I think his fantasy team was knocked out of the playoffs and he
has strong urges to rifle off stats)

Cheers,
Sahoj

This is true....we didn't know what kind of a gem we had in McCall at the beginning of the season, look at his carries in the first 3 games. We know now.

I have to root for Medan against Taipang. A Medan win basically guarantees the Bucs the #2 seed even if we lose to Taipang. Tiebreaker would be points scored and we lead Taipang by 50 and Medan by 140.

If not we will have to settle the 2 spot on the field the last week of the season between us and Taipang.

69 held Drasi to 51 yards rushing and Kija to 37 when we played them. And to quote Lovie -- we get of the plane running the football. I am voting 69 the team most likely to unpleasantly surprise the sh*t of someone in the playoffs. They are without a doubt the 1st round matchup noone wants. Which is funny because almost certainly Chengdu and 69 are playing each other in the 1st round...

We can't wait for Brickwall. It's going to be interesting to see if our tactics for one HB teams are effective against a back of his caliber. And we have a great debt of gratitude to 69 for playing them first and showing us some good recent tape of Chengdu. I;ve been pouring over Chengdu's losses to Padang and Palembang, and jrlynch is right -- they should have won those games. But even more frustrating -- Chengdu is playing nothing like that now, so those tapes are pretty much worthless. I even threw out all the tendency stats because those past Chengdu teams are not the team we're gonna see on Sunday.

Damn, Smeberen has noticed what is driving Medan this week. Beat Taiping and then pull for Taiping to beat Shanghai.

Mingo the way things change in this conference, the Rangers could be on top next season. You never know.

Definitely something 69Mafia will teach you the hard way.

They don't want nobody doing any interior running on them.

I think we had simply run them over four seasons in a row (we had many rushing yards in
Season 3 but they still beat us). This season.. Nuh Uh.
