you are playing american football in ireland.
fantastic, do tell more!Yup, there are two leagues.
11 A Side full padded contact, full NCAA rules
8 A Side full padded contact, modified NCAA rules. (Major differences are no special teams, whoever wins the toss gets the ball at their 20yd line and if you choose to "punt" the ball away, it's just moved 30yds and possession switches over. No chop blocking and a few other insignificant ones, time, play clock and such). This is like a rookie development league in that you can only have 3 players who have more than 2 years experience on the field at a time.
In the 11's there three divisions with 3 teams in the north and central divisions and for this season only there are 2 in the south, one of the teams from last year folded (they went 0-8 for two years in a row). The winners of each division plus the next best loser go into the playoff semi's and the winner of them meet in the Shamrock Bowl.
In the DV-8s it's just one big league with the team at the top of the table winning.
I play for/coach the IT Carlow Chargers, joining the DV-8's this year
Playing = RB
Coaching = I was stupid enough to volunteer myself to help out the new lads. One thing led to another and now I find myself a qualified American Football coach
;D
Oh and I was MVP last year but I don't like to brag about it
