Why not? Its PURE talent alone. Sure coaching tactics can change the game..but those are pure talent alone stats. I think that and depth are the only ways to actually rank these teams.
The only other way to look at the teams would be if everyone opened up their attributes and we went player by player, skill by skill...the matchups dont use levels, they measure your talent bars...they are a clear measure of talent on a team without looking at all the attributes for each player. Its not screwy at all, its the truth.
I actually don't know if everything in this game goes by stats alone. I have seen QB's for instance with lower stats perform better than a QB on the same team with a higher overall stat score. Plus the matchup stats in this game are completely screwy. You could have a better overall ranking because you have a really great kicker.
