Apparently the info was just for conformation...but I just told them I will call my bank and sort it out. It just seemed too sketchy too me, maybe im being paranoid, idk.

After googling the number they had me call, it was a mixed bag of legit and not. Hard to make anything out of it. Supposedly it belongs to a third party company called Vantis or something like that for 3rd party fraud protection alot of banks use. Like I said, not really sure.

Then googling the text # it came from, I found the number listed on a few credit union websites as their fraud protection alert #. But its not listed on my banks website (granted I bank with a small bank and the only numbers on their site are there office #s and the after hours card cancelling services in the event its lost or stolen).

Good idea to call the bank.

Also was a good idea to Google the number.

...and you can never be too paranoid. Too many scammers out there.

Yea, the only thing that makes me think its NOT a scam, is the fact that my card did get declined on the website minutes before receiving the text. But im not willing to bet all my money on that lol.

So, I decided it's time to upgrade my phone...my Galaxy S3 has seen better days.

I went to Verizon page, thinking I'd just buy it upfront instead of a 2 year loan, thinking it would be cheaper. Instead, the 2 year loan is $100 cheaper.

I don't get it. Isn't the guaranteed money upfront better for them, rather than money they might not see?

Edit: And then I immediately paid off the discounted long term balance...wat

What did you go with? I *hate* my Galaxy S3mini, but I'm not eager to embrace the iPhone either. Full disclosure should include that I use my phone so incredibly much for work that its akin to a "hammer"--in other words its a "tool", not a fun and nifty tech gadgit.

The Colts should feel ashamed tonight. Not because they lost, but because they really didn't put up a fight.

Galaxy S6 >_>

My S3 has been pretty fantastic, honestly. Aside from playing a couple games for a day or two, I haven't used it for much besides messaging and keeping tabs on the forums while out and about.

The main reason I'm upgrading is because, sometime last year, the charging port stopped working for every single cable that I have, besides one, and that one is a wall plug. It also helps that I actually save money in the long run by upgrading, due to a cheaper bill with their new contract setup.

Didn't buy the edge because it seems weird and gimmicky. Never once have I thought to myself that it would be nice to randomly trigger things from touching the side of my phone. I fat finger it enough when it's just the front, let alone three sides.

So, I called my bank this morning, and I was just being paranoid. The lady at the bank gave me the number for their fraud detection and it was the one that I was instructed to call.

lolme i guess?
