There was an article a while back that talked about how the extreme poor (under 15k household income) spend about 10% on lottery tickets every year. If that same 10% was spent in their neighborhood we'd have a better America.

They'd piss it away on something else tbqh. The vast majority of the extreme poor are that way because of how they behave, not bad luck or whatever.

But that's better than the lottery--them "pissing it away" would be the local stimulus that Romo referenced.

I'm not sure a spike in McDonald's and Olde English sales would result in "a better America."

That's because you don't know what the fuck you're talking about ever. For example, when you said infrastructure spending was a bad investment for the government, or when you said England isn't a country, or that the vegan diet has health concerns on par with obesity, etc, etc.

It's a mild inconvenience for a few days, and then there are some tangible benefits for large portions of the year. Get over it.

what are the tangible benefits these days? does it actually lead to less energy consumption in the summer months?

Apparently, but I suppose if you don't trust the government you could debate that. It makes sense to me though if you are turning on your lights an hour later for over half the year.

I suppose you could argue that peak energy loads happen during business hours, so who cares though. But I guess around the fringes, day light savings keeps business hours during daylight hours for the most part when they otherwise wouldn't be.
