The new Tacoma's are decent, though dated. It's a no frills truck that gets the job done, and you can get them in a variety of different bed sizes. The TRD Tacoma's are quite capable off road, they come with beefy, high dollar bilstein shocks, and they have a nice transfer case. You can also get them with a locking rear differential. They are one of the only trucks that you can still get in manual, but if you want to haul anything huge it's probably not the best choice. Their crew cabs can also be fairly large. They are also very reliable vehicles that have an old timey truck feel to them.

Colorado's have been getting good reviews, they have more power than the Tacoma's, they also have more options, and a nicer interior, though the taco's isn't bad by any means. I'm of the opinion that the Tacoma is the more capable vehicle off-road, especially if it is equipped with the TRD package. Driving dynamics wise the Colorado truck feels, and handles more like a passenger car than a truck.

Overall, I think the Tacoma is the sturdier of the two trucks. The Colorado is a unibody truck, which makes hauling and towing things a little more iffy. The Tacoma is a frame on body truck, that comes with a fairly beefy frame, it also has a huge metal plate protecting your oil pan and other components from getting destroyed if you were to come across some rough terrain. Maintenance is so easy that you can do it yourself, hell the oil filter is actually near the top of the engine, you don't even need to get under the truck to change the oil filter.

Essentially these right now are the only two new options (i guess Nissan frontier) that you have if you want a smaller truck. The F150s, Silverado's GMC Sierra's, Toyota Tundra's and Dodge Rams are all huge, bloated beast of a truck now. They all are around the size of an F250 from the 90s, if not bigger. Overall I think that the Toyota Tacoma has more utility than the Colorado, I also think it's better made, however I do think that the Colorado handles better, and also has more power. I personally, prefer the driving dynamics of the Tacoma, your impressions may be different. The Tacoma also has a large aftermarket that the Colorado can't even begin to compete with.

One last thought --- do not, and I mean do not go out and purchase a 2016 Tacoma until you hear what their reliability is like. They are completely changing the Tacoma, right now it's based on a tried and true drive train that has been around for awhile. In recent years Toyota has had some issues with their newer engines (not a problem for the 2015 Tacoma).

Jesus christ, what part of I can't fit a truck in my garage is so hard to understand? Are you just trying to rub it in?

And yeah, I am a big fan of Toyota trucks too.

Yes, the game was bad enough.

But this roster has almost nothing to do with what he allegedly wants to do.

He wanted roster control, and he blew it.

Holmgren had the same problem with the Seahawks. When they took GM duties away from him, they went to their first Super Bowl.

After he built the roster that took them to the superbowl.

That is why I went with the smaller trucks. Tacoma's and Colorado's do have beds that are actually usable despite the trucks being smaller, and you can get beds, and crew cabs of varying sizes, especially on the Tacoma. I think you might be able to fit one in your garage, though I don't know how much of that space is actually usable.

If you want an AWD sedan, and you want a car that is performance oriented you have several options. The Lexus IS300 is an AWD vehicle that has over 300 hp. They are fun to drive, and you can get them in AWD configurations. They have all of the bells and whistles a person could ever want. The only issue with these things is that the back seats are a tight fit.

The go to car for many people who want performance AWD is the Lancer EVO, these are very fun cars to drive, and very capable in bad weather conditions. They are good at handling, and they come with a crap ton of power. There is also a huge aftermarket for these things. The downside is that they are not the most reliable things on the road. If you have disposable income this might be a fun car that can fit four people with ease, and still have a decent amount of trunk space.

The WRX STI is the classic go to car for people who want a performance based AWD vehicle. They are reliable when compared to the Lancer EVO, but in recent years the WRX has become kind of boring in my opinion. Another thing to consider is many dealerships won't even let you test drive the WRX, especially the STI's. Usually it involves a lot of paperwork, and negotiations before you can get behind the wheel. Though, some dealerships are more lenient than others --- so you may find one that allows you to test drive one. Overall I think the Evo is the more fun of the two vehicles, but the WRX gives you dependability, decent driving dynamics, and a good dose of power, and once again can fit four people.

Volkswagen Golf R's are very fun to drive, and have a lot of utility. They are AWD and come at a decent price, though that doesn't seem to be an issue for you. They come with a lot of horsepower, and what I love the most is the steering. It's very precise and gives you a good feel for the road, though VW's aren't exactly the most reliable things on the road, and finding a mechanic that will work on them can sometimes be a pain in the ass. They use a lot of special fittings that require special tools that most guys do not have unless they work on German cars.

The Infinity G37 is another one that I can recommend. I have many friends who have them, and they're pretty dependable, and they are AWD. Back seats aren't the best, and they only have two doors, but boy will these things put a smile on your face.

Then of course you got a bevvy of options when it comes to BMW's, and Audi's when it comes to AWD vehicles. The Audi TT, and BMW 6 series being the standouts of these cars, though the TT's back seats are lolable. They are just there for insurance purposes.

I assume you're looking for a fun car, yes? Not just a grocery getter/ecnobox

The only truck I looked at that would fit at all is the Nissan Frontier, but that has a <5' bed, so what's the point? Even the smallest Tacoma/CO does not fit, and I also need a Crew Cab regardless. Interestingly, the Frontier fits with the Crew Cab because they slap on that tiny bed and their Extended Cabs only come with a 6', so same length as Crew + shorty bed.

Not going to be car seat friendly then. Plus, don't really need a sports car (have one already), need a car that can handle really bad weather.

Was already looking at Outbacks and Foresters because of the ground clearance. Will check that out too.

Yeah, my mom has one (sedan version) and I do enjoy driving it. But not what I am looking for here as I need more interior space.

Yeah, mostly more than I am looking to spend.

Thoughts on a Nissan Xterra Pro-4X? $5k cheaper than a Toyota 4Runner base, and $11k cheaper than the TRD Pro.

Seems like a pretty good price and you can get a manual.

Gross. My company looked at a bunch of SUVs for use as a fleet/commercial vehicle (sales travel + during heavy delivery days). That Nissan gets horrendous gas mileage (under 15 MPG with city driving) and the interior in the 2015 was not something you'd expect in a 2015.

We ended up going with the Mercedes Metris (cargo van) so no real help.

I haven't worked on the 2015 xterra's but I have worked on earlier models. Not impressed with their build quality, or interior, for me they were very uncomfortable, not the most reliable things on the road either. Lots of weird electrical issues on those things.

The 4runner would be the better option, however if the tacoma won't fit in the garage I doubt that the 4runner would. The 4runner is a massive SUV, though it has a lot of utility.

Honestly, if you're looking for just something leaning towards more of an ecnobox/grocery getter that is also fun to drive I would get a Subaru. Even the sporty STI's have higher ground clearance than most cars due to its rally heritage. The forester is always a good option, if you want a sportier car and don't want to spring for an STI or WRX you can always get the Legacy. Decent handling, good get up and go for an economy car, four door vehicle with plenty of room in the back, and of course AWD. It also has a performance model that won't set you back as much as an STI if you are so inclined. The outback is also a good option.

The Mazda CX-5 and CX-3 are also good options for inclimate weather, it has 4wd options on it, and I find them to be very solid vehicles. I know several family friends with these cars and they haven't given them any problems, and they get good MPGs. They also don't look to bad while doing it.

The Ford Edge is also another option. My father owns one, and it's been a great car, though you should avoid the ecoboost engines at all cost. Ecoboost engines offer good performance but are riddled with problems due to the lack of tools to deal with the carbon build up. You can get them in awd, they are comfortable, have good power, and have decent ground clearance.

Now... that being said avoid the Toyota Rav 4 at all cost. It has 4wd system but it's superficial at best, the new models are also riddled with problems.
