note that was just a little shit, jd, not starting something.
quickly looking at this site, it does appear that globally, there have been more on average globally in the 2000s as compared to previously. if you have some other data which contradicts that, I'd be interested in seeing it. this was just from a quick google

Actually your link indicates the opposite. Note the difference between "hurricanes" and "named storms." There are more "named storms" now because there is more worldwide monitoring.

Of course it was serious. The dire predictions made 10-20 years ago by global warming alarmists have turned out to be complete horseshit, which isn't surprising because even many scientists who believe in human-caused warming were complaining about the hysterical claims being made by alarmists. To be clear, I am not suggesting that humans play no part in the global temperature. What I am saying is that ridiculous claims were made to scare people and generate attention/donations. We've obviously seen numerous examples of scientists (including NASA) being caught changing or outright falsifying data in order to fit the warning alarmist agenda. The problem is that deceiving people in this way erodes public trust and makes it more difficult to persuade them when the science is actually sound.

The most ridiculous part is how accelerated they thought the predictions would come true and how quick people have jumped to conclusions over something that is along process. Which go hand in hand, but its still laughable.

Don't try to argue science with people that don't understand science. It's a no-win battle.

Agreed. Also, don't try to argue science with people that think they understand science. Even worse.

I love that people in my city are so goddamn PC and "lets love every animal ever" that they're saying animal lives are more important than human lives.

A bear came onto some guy's property in the north of the city (a pretty developed suburban neighborhood, not like he lives in the woods) and he does all the usual noise-making to scare it off. It didn't work the bear kept coming closer until it was against his house at which point he shot it, and people are losing their shit saying he should be shot. I'm sorry, at what point is the bear no longer a big brown adorable koala? He tried to scare it off, the bear keeps coming until it's threatening to break into his house. Should he have waited until it was digesting him to shoot it? Christ.

Ugh, we deal with animal reintroduction (which isnt even the correct term because they were never here in the first place) that are protected and its a huge bitch.

Ditto here. They were never this low until ~40-50 years ago when they realized "Oh hey this city has tons of garbage that is way easier to eat than foraging", and now people are acting like we've desecrated the spiritual land of the bear. They need to fear humans otherwise exactly this happens.

Do you guys go in, tranq them and just move em a few miles back or how's that go?

Rams, you live on an ancient Bear burial ground. Things are about to get all Pet Cemetery up in your hood.
