it's like a camera lens that is way out of focus. it's a big blur of shapes and light. no detail.

Yeah, my bad eye is 20/400 and good eye was 20/15 last time I had them checked.

Like, 20/400 you just have to tell them "yeah, I can't even see a letter at the top of the thing, let alone make out what it is".

they show me that shit, and i'm like, "there are letters there? i can sorta tell there's some black on that beige wall..."

+1, also damn that's unfortunate. Any idea why they're that bad?

You could get away with a prescription monocle. If you have glasses, do you have like 1 real lens and 1 that's just a plastic placeholder?

genetics probably, but i also read a lot as a kid, and read a lot still. some people have suggested that might have something to do with it.

I don't wear glasses.

I wore a contact for about a year, but quit wearing it. It only brought my bad eye to like 20/150 to 20/200. Still couldn't see shit out of it and it was expensive.

do you have astigmatism in that eye? they should be able to bring it up to 20/20 regardless. hell, with my prescription, i'm at about 20/30 or 20/40

I don't know. Been that way since I was born.

Still functions and looks normal, just has horrible vision. It's basically extended peripheral vision on that side.

it wouldn't look any different if you had astigmatism, but years ago, people with astigmatism couldn't wear very strong contacts. they can nowadays. just sayin.

Well, I've thought about it.

But it's just the norm for me. I mean, I don't need glasses to see, and it's not like I sit around reminiscing about how life was when I used to be able to see with that eye.

I don't know any different and never have.

I've actually wondered how different things look with two functioning eyes, or whatever, but yeah.
