Nice idea, since shutdown coverage is pretty powerful, might want to change the % to 2% bonus though. Especially since both those VAs add a deflect pass bonus.

2% could work. It'd just be nice for CBs to have something to counter the ridiculously overpowered WR3s that will be coming along next season. It was already almost impossible to stop them as it was, now they are just going to be even harder to cover.

Also the power, balanced, and evasive never worked as advertised. If I recall correct the power setting simply has less vision checks during the rush as the player is not looking for a easier path they are simply trying to blitz in a straight line.

I think Balanced is a 50/50 shot at either power or evasive. Which is not bad for some DEs imo since it mixes stuff up. Now they have to be one or the other.

I tend to ask my LBs that blitz to use power so they hit the holes on time instead of waisting time looking for a hole in the offense.

As for the run vs pass. What if you face a team that passes every down. I know it is not common as most teams run every down in GLB but some day there may be a sim that favors a pass heavy team. Now why would you want your D line set to run vs a team that passes every down? If they have a VA that only works in with the run focus tactic it will be hard if not impossible to ask the player to make 15 VP worthless.

Thats why i mentioned about opening up the middle ground atleast. So your not stuck at a disadvantage all game in cases like you bring up.

There is one exploit with this VA now that i think it over, defenses will use nickle formations vs 2WR sets and have the CB3 cover WR1 in man and use CB1 as a zone guy or double team somewhere.

There needs to be a restriction so that this bonus is only received if he plays man VS WR3

I still really like the idea, passing game can get out of hand in the higher leagues.

I think Staying Alive and Turn the Corner could be combined, but they should function with a radius like Aura does.

Something like: "Reverse the Field" or "Broken Play"

This player gets a 1% boost to speed, agility, and breaking tackles per level when a defender is within his radius and the player is behind the LOS. More levels increase the radius and bonus applied. Only active on 75% elusive or greater.

This would help backs avoid TFL on the high risk sweeps. It be epic for running QBs.

That would work if it's possible to implement it into the game.

Does anyone else find that Technique Man doesn't make a lot of sense? I mean, typically older players have to fall back on technique to balance things out against a physically superior young player...

Plus, let's say I take technique man now with some of my level 40ish DTs. Does it become totally useless once my players hit 70 and the players older than them are all declining and retiring? Can I respec it then?

A technique VA would seem to me to be something that negates one player's strength or agility advantage over the other.

Yep, I think it should be vs stronger blockers not older blockers.

I agree 100%, i disliked how they are adding this...only young guys can use technique i guess, when you suddenly line up against a younger guy, you decide not to use technique anymore....even though they'd be easier to full.
Almost seems backwards...
Seems like an older DE would be able to school a young OT with technique like you see a lot in the NFL

But i dislike anything to do with age to be honest.
I like the Strength idea from AngryDragon, or any other comparison but age...hell i'd rather it be fame heh.

New Vet Suggestion

Since the defense has "CLOSING SPEED" which allows defenders to run down fast ball carriers when they're far away even though the offensive player is faster build wise...................How about this

BREAK AWAY SPEED - When a ball carrier is say 10+ yards away from the closest defender they get a small speed boost....This will help counter those CB's,SS's & FS's chase down the ball carrier.

Makes sense because how many times have we seen a guy burn his man and appear to be gone for a score only to see a defender get super man speed and run them down?????....How many times have you seen Randy Moss or Chris Johnson get chased down when they're 10+ yards ahead of the nearest defender????......NEVER!!

so we're back to building all speed WR and nothing else - Flames54 would be so proud

In The Huddle (defense only): This player knows how to get into the play caller's head. Each level of In The Huddle gives this player a .5% bonus to Vision on plays that the offense has already run more than 5 times. Every time the offense runs a play that has already been run more than 5 times, the bonus to Vision gets doubled, maxing out at 4% per level.

So basically, if the offense runs a play 5 times, the 6th time they run that play, this player gets .5% Vision per level of In The Huddle. On the 7th time they use the same play, the Vision bonus becomes 1% per level. On the 8th time , the Vision bonus becomes 2% per level. On the 9th play and beyond, the Vision bonus is 4% per level. This will force offensive coordinators to stop being so repetitive and not continuously call the same plays like what is happening right now in the better leagues.

Spin Move (defensive ends only): This DE knows how to use his opponent's momentum against them. Each level of the Spin Move VA gives this defensive end a 3% chance to spin underneath an over setting offensive tackle.

please?

Some of the VAs for carrying can be used for rushing QBs.

Tough Runner(SAGA45): Reduce the morale effect of Big Hit/Monster Hit by 2% per level

Broken Will(SAGA45): Each level of Broken Will gives +3% chance to reduce defenders morale by an additional -3 when breaking a tackle, and double the effect of Power Through/Lower the Shoulder/Juke/Head Fake. Requires 50 confidence

Thanks Staz for helping bring these to Bort's attention as well as the refinements you made to the modifiers
