So I went to do my due dilligence and get my eyes checked for the first time ever (literally, ever. I never thought I needed one), and it turns out my eyes are horrible and I have astigmatism. The eye doctor asked how I passed my driving test and how I was able to drive. I have 20/60 individual vision and 20/50 combined vision. I never had a frame of reference to compare my eyes to, so I never noticed how bad they really were. That was.. surprising.
On an awesome note she said it should also explain my migraines. I am sensitive to light, and with the astigmatism I am more prone to headaches with my brain trying to constantly process and correct it.

That's about where my eyes were when I first got glasses for driving. I was basically in 'permasquint'. Do yourself the favor and take your prescription to http://www.zennioptical.com . You can get some super cheap, straight out of China, prescription glasses for much cheaper than what your eye doctor will charge you. It's much easier to keep a pair in the car, a pair on your night table, a pair in your briefcase/laptop case, and so forth than constantly remember to grab your 1 pair.

Ahh wee late on that, already paid for the glasses in store. They've been pleasant enough to deal with so long as my family has needed glasses. They did include a 10 year 'if you fuck up your glasses in any way we will replace them for free' warranty though, which is nice. I know that since Im not used to glasses I will be fucking up my first pair quite soon

pshh, i'm at 20/2000+. getting lasik on thursday 
lol, the dude taking the measurements to see if i was a candidate said that i would need a significantly thicker than normal cornea in order for them to be able to do the surgery. i'm pretty psyched about not needing contacts anymore. never again...

Congrats on the lasek though, everyone I know who's had it has had a marked, long term (5+ year) improvement in every aspect of sight
