I actually didn't even know Anderson Cooper was gay until you linked that, then I went to look it up to figure out wtf you were referencing.

It is mildly surprising, though.

I didn't know white walkers had sexual preferences.

I have a lot of admiration for how he has handled it. Jackasses like Perez Hilton kept prodding him about coming out, which he finally did to stop the harassment, but as you correctly note it has not defined him or his work.

Thankfully, though, no straight people have built careers around their sexualility.

Pick your battles better.

Already ended my 'battle' with jd. The fact that he's trying to argue with no one over things he can't comprehend is making that look like a good idea.

rams78110, if you're never honest with yourself about people proving you wrong then you're going to be subject to the same handicaps as an adult. You don't have to admit to me or anyone else that you were proven wrong, and you're certainly free to resent me for doing it, but for your growth and development as an intellect you have to learn to confront those hard realities and learn from them rather than hiding within the comfort of denial.

Thoughts with the families of Adam Ward and Alison Parker. It's tragic when anyone is murdered, but for the families to have to see it broadcast live is unimaginably terrible. Initially I guessed that it may have been someone obsessed with the reporter, but police have said that the cameraman was shot first. Hopefully the image of the shooter will be enough to capture and convict him.

Maybe I've just caught him at the "wrong" moments to be watching, but Anderson Cooper is one of the few personalities on CNN that strike me as being more or less objective in their work.

I agree. When something like this happens it is horrible. Especially since both were young and good looking.

He was a disgruntled former employee of the station.

He killed himself according to the most recent reports.

Absolutely.

There is a gay man where I work that was sexually harassing a straight man. Not in a harmless or subtle fashion either. Pretty disgusting shit if you hear the details. The straight man appealed for help for months and months with zero response from management or HR.

At one point, the gay man came up behind the straight man and started to give him a shoulder massage. The straight man pushed him off. He was fired the next day for assaulting the gay man, who still works here.

Dat equality.

Oh my god, anything but a shoulder massage.

Really though, they should both be fired. Unwelcome advances by one; physical force by the other.

If the worker were a woman who had been hit on repeatedly by the supervisor, you'd have no problem at all with a woman pushing the supervisor away from her when he attempted the massage. Quit pretending the straight man was out of line just because his harrasser was gay.

I have less empathy for people mourning ugly people. I may be a sociopath for thinking that way, but at least I'm honest.
