my guess is that, for him, it's less about the assignment itself, and more about wanting to know who the fuck pays attention to shit, even at the end of summer

Yeah, I actually like this approach. It puts the students on notice that they are expected to be attentive and accountable, not just show up for the tests and get a passing grade. I take it more as a sign that the professor actually cares about the class than him being a dick.

Well, yeah, obviously.

There's no way that the course is just so jam packed that the extra four days of unguided homework is make or break for it. It's just a probe to see who actually gives a fuck, as well as giving a logical jumping off point for the first day of class.

And I mean, seriously...having "homework" four days before the first day of class? I can't even begin to understand how that's a noteworthy event.

One of the partners used to teach a Law class. It was a practical education class, so there was a requirement of attendance, preparation, and participation. They only let 16 students in, so the spots were highly coveted.

The partner emailed out the syllabus describing the first three weeks and got a response back from one student saying that she would be unable to complete the assignments for the first three weeks because she was currently in Jamaica with no internet access and she wouldn't be back for three weeks.

The partner simply emailed her back: if you don't have internet access in Jamaica, how are you emailing me?

Good God the Tampa Bay Bucs new uniforms are horrid. The helmet alone is enough to have rejected it--I can't believe these made it into production.

I guess not--there was no reason to watch Tampa Bay last year.

Fair, they are pretty terrible. And that's coming from a Rams fan.

It's like they tried to mix digital-clock font and some odd japanese font on the numbers. Why? Who the fuck knows.

I actually liked their old ones. Red and gunmetal, simple.

Yes, the gunmetal was referred to often as "pewter".

Hell, even the original uniforms were more "NFL" caliber than what I saw tonight. I just can't get over the degree to which they mutilated the helmet.
