its just an idea, im not saying use that exact one, what im trying to put out there is make a few VAs where you need 75+ of a stat to use it. Make it hard to reach

Ah, so just abilities that are powerful and require high skills? Could be interesting. Could also open the door for more VAs that have age requirements.

The dot will die if we invest 15 into this VA?

That sounds like the new best way to stop a good power back

Some interesting new VA's. I'd definitely be cautious of the new "+% when facing a higher level opponent" VA's. Percentile bonuses can shift the balance of the sim by themselves. Clever instincts always seemed like a bad idea, since it was arguably the cause of the nerf to fakes and forced a lot of builds to intentionaly not boost to stay under their leagues' median level thresholds. Do we really need several new versions of CI?

Also the new OT Killer just looks like the Big Heart fiasco of season 8 all over again.

The "against higher level competition" things aren't my favorite. I don't plan on using them on any of my players, and I don't see any reason behind them, but Bort seems to think they've got a place.

With the way the leagues are now, Uncapped and AA teams could probably use these to bring themselves up to the competition of leagues a bit, but I doubt they'll shift things much.

I also agree that 1% per level may be a bit too much for OT Killer. 15 in that gives the bonus for 7 minutes and 30 seconds. Granted, the VA only kicks in when up by three, tied, or down. Question is, is it down by three, or down in general? I think the time should be static, or the skill bonus should be dropped to .5%

From long experience in many MMORPGs, giving something extra-powerful a high-level pre-requisite stat doesn't help balance anything; it actually does the reverse.
People that want the extra-powerful ability will still get it (just by working a bit harder), and when they do the extra bonus is simply further compounded by now being applied on top of a stat that is by necessity even higher.

I'm not thinking of this VA example in particular. But it's a good general rule of thumb. If something is so powerful it needs higher pre-reqs, then giving it higher pre-reqs will make things worse. It's the "so powerful" part that needs addressing, not the pre-reqs.

Thick Skin
Trash talking means nothing to this player. Each level of Thick Skin reduces the effect of the Trash Talk, Growl, Snarl, and Glare special abilities by 1.5% when used against this player. Failed Trash Talk, Growl, Snarl, and Glare effect the originator instead.

THIS HAD BETTER NOT GET IMPLEMENTED.

And yes I went there with bold and capital letters.

15 points in one VA could not only get an increased ability to counteract120 SP worth of SAs that do not work well in the first place, but now can be made to be a weakness.

WTF really?????????

So with the addition of ANY new VA's means we will be getting full VA re-specs right?

I asked that in Project Bort.

No response yet.

Mentor

This VA should be changed to only act on Age....

Currently must be lower leveled and younger. But if a player neglected to boost or he didn't get all XP because of an PT issue or what ever the case they are screwed out of mentorship because of this.

Do graduate students look up to high school dropouts?

I've changed OT killer, actually, to do a set 5% bonus and 20 seconds per level, rather than a percentage and time increase per level.

no but a player that had a ton of talent (higher lvl) would still look up to an older player even if he was less talented (lower lvl)

I think this should be within reason like within like 5 lvls

so people don't create players that they never plan on boosting just to use as mentors
