That's true. Nice thing is they're trying to send it to the in-house collections people (is that normal for a university?) the instant it's delinquent just to fuck me over further.

Edit: Still not as bad as your situation though

Wait... so they're sending you to in-house collections because you're late on your student loans? Shouldn't student loans be deferred until you're done with college, so long as you remain in classes? Usually you can work with them if you cannot make a payment as well.

They want to immediately send me to in-house collections because their employee fucked up and they blamed me for not making sure he did his job right. Now the deadline for student aid for the summer semester has passed and I can't pay it out of pocket, which is my only choice to them. I have to get a loan from my bank now.

To explain the above, they don't have a personal vendetta or anything as much as it feels like they do. They're undergoing rapid expansion to the tune of increasing from 7,000 my freshman year to 11,500 to 12,000 projected matriculants this year. They've been putting up 1-2 new buildings (academic, housing, parking, any type) per semester for the last 4 semesters and they're getting ripped about not having remotely enough parking (they have about 2,000 parking spots..........) so they've turned into money-hungry Goodells. Any opportunity they have to squeeze even a penny from someone taking 1 night class there they will do.

Someone told me the other day that the internet has turned us into ancient Egyptians.

We worship cats and communicate in hieroglyphics.

Or do we?

From elsewhere:

"This leftist interpretation of words like colonialism and imperialism transforms them into ideologically loaded terms that ultimately distort the tragic truths of history. They imply that Europe’s explorations and conquests constituted a new order of evil. In reality, the movements of peoples in search of resources, as well as the destruction of those already in possession of them, is the perennial dynamic of history."

Just found out via an acquaintance getting a ticket that Colorado is one of the states that has an Absolute speed limit, meaning that going 1 over is enough to get popped for speeding in any situation, and it cannot be argued regardless of any other factors like if the limit just changed or if you're going down hill. So glad I did not find that out on my own, and so glad that I haven't gotten popped going 66-69 like I do most days.

Colorado is also ranked #1 in the nation for worst speeding tickets taking into account how strict the laws are, how often the police will ticket someone in the 'barely over' area, points against you for said ticket, and the fines for tickets. And going 25 over (not that almost anyone ever does) is automatically reckless and has a bare minimum 10 day jail sentence. So down with the fuzz and all that.

The site I found while trying to verify said acquaintance's claims. Figured I'd share the wealth for anyone else.

There's a signpost on the freeway that I take to and from work every day. There are two signs on this post.

The first sign reads "Maximum 90"
The second sign reads "Slower traffic keep right"

Guess which one is enforced by police and which one is not.

Also, it is total BS that the speed limit on our freeway is 55 mph, the freeway in Regina is 62 mph, and the freeway in Ottawa is 68 mph (90/100/110 km/h).
