Nah, exactly right.

There's a huge debate about the top 3-5 passers all time... but after that, there's a HUGE drop-off imo

You can't list Aikman and Young without also including Cunningham and Unitas and Starr, and Fouts, and Theisman, and Bradshaw, Jim Kelly (QB Bills!), .... ect...

Not that those guys are THE BEST QBs, and not that they're the worst... they are somewhere in the upper middle. Slightly better than Rodney Peete, but not as good as John Elway, Marino, Montana...

I think part of the reason Young was as successful as he was, is that he was a mobile QB in an age where that was unheard of. Same goes for Cunningham. Though Randall never had the supporting class that Young had, and that's why he didn't get a Ring.

If Green Bay took Favre back, lost Rodgers in the process and it turns out that Rodgers becomes a great NFL quarterback, I would STILL think Green Bay made the right move. Hell, we have Brian Brohm on the bench now, a guy who could become a great QB himself. Why not go for another Super Bowl or 2. You have already squandered the careers of one of the greatest QBs of all time with only 1 ring to show for it by not surrounding him with the talent he deserves (I still think Dan Marino's story is one of the most tragic in sports. That guy was the best QB of all time). Try to get a couple more to show for such a brilliant career and consequences be damned!

I believe it's all about the ego of Ted Thompson vs. the ego of Brett Favre. Apparently the ego of the GM wins out over the ego of the first ballot Hall of Fame QB who has been the face of the franchise for most of the last 2 decades.

He shouldn't have retired, Hello? For a 38 yr old guy he sure acts like a sniveling baby.
