Who?

Brett Farve, possibly the greatest QB to ever play the game.

yes one of the best ever. Also one of the laziest. he hasn't done a training camp in how many yrs? He just wants to fish until the start of the season, take his pain meds, and play.
I hope he does well for the reason of not tarnishing his name by staying around and going to a team I don't see doing as well as some think.
it's also just fin to see all of this since I'm a diehard Vikings fan, and it's about time the Pucker fans have something to cry about.

I think I am just happy Pennington didn't end up in San Diego. Poor Miami.

I never really thought he had a chance to go to San Diego... Poor Miami indeed. They now have 4 possible starters.. I was thinking Bears more than anything

Favre. Names aren't always spelled like they sound. And far from the greatest qb to ever play. Most determined, maybe. But nowhere in the top 3 list of "greatest".

And no, Miami Doesn't have 4 possible starters. John Beck is lucky to still have a job, much less a legit shot at starting. This signing will ultimately prove to be a filler role until Chad Henne is comfortable with the team/playbook. I would not be too surprised to see Beck/McCown--one of them--traded or released within the next few days. Any qb with more fumbles than TD passes..... gtfo.

I hope your kidding on the top 3 thing. He may not end up on the list, but he sure as heck better be in the discussion. #1 in league history in TD's and Wins?

Hell, Emmit Smith is #1 in rushing. Is he the best RB in history? Hell no. You put your time in... you get some production. Remind me where Curtis Martin is on that list, will you?

There's a reason Favre isn't in the discussion for top 3. His last name doesn't start with an M. And that seems to be a requirement. Because if Super Bowl rings are all that's required, then I guess we toss Dilfer and BRoeth in the mix. Or hell, Maybe even Troy Aikman! How many SB's did he win again? And if league MVP awards are the only true way to judge, then I guess Rich Ganon is the man!

Warren Moon is #4 in that yardage list, btw. And Dan Fouts is #8. Either of them top 10 QB's? By your position, you would have to say so. But when reality speaks... it says "no".

Not to mention that he has more career Ints then any other QB. Yes, even Rex Grossman.

The Td's may be a little skewed... but being the top guy in wins deserves something. I never said anything about SB Rings, so no clue where that came from.

Everyone has their own way of judging who is the best QB, heck ur talking to a guy who's #1 QB of all time is Johnny Unitas.

I don't know what your way of rating QB's is, but Favre was not only fun to watch, but when he was younger he was a threat to run too. He played the game the way it should be and always had his teams in a game. Like I said, he may not end up top 3... but he more than deserves to be in the discussion.

P.S. The only part of your argument I agree with is the rings thing, because it takes a team to do it. Like with Tom Brady, he may have 3 rings, but a lot of that was his defense and he gets way more credit than he should.

Nice catch Red! - That was my point exactly. Back around the time that the Packers won their last Super Bowl & Gunslinger Brett was leading my homeboy fantasy football team to yet another championship, my ex-wife bought me a signed Brett FARVE plaque as a Christmas present....

....yes, the engravers misspelled his name too!

LOL

As a diehard Vikings fan I have hated Favre like Mary Kate Olsen hates food. overall I still give credit where it's due, but good lord not the top 3.
On that comment that was made about needing the last name to start with an "M" I would also add the letter "E". Again I wasn't a huge fan of Elway's, but the guy wa always a game, won the big one a couple times (Say thanks to TD for those), and had the better career IMO over Brett. Favre will forever be hated in MN as the Pucker he was, but without him the NFC North wouldn't have been nearly as fun being a fan.

It was always fun watching Favre play, he threw a lot of picks and made some bad plays but man, he threw the damn ball around. He always played hard and, as much as I hate to sound like Madden here, he always seemed to have so much fun playing the game.

I too am cursed with the shame of being a Vikings fan, so I watched Favre play at least twice a season and often more. In the mid-90's no one else could touch him, I know Steve Young kept putting up better stats but Favre was just something else. It's too bad he feels the need to hang on, I'm afraid he's just going to put more blemishes on a legendary career.

They said the same about Montana, but no one remembers him as a Chief now.
