Saipan gets win number two on the season today against the Shellbacks. An explosive start with CB Allen Rossum returning the opening kickoff for a touch down and it was pretty much down hill from there. A rare performance by the Fighters who out hustled their opponents to a 63-7 victory. After Dylan Salisbury performance maybe he will stick around for another season, we will see how this turns out for the team by the end of the season. It feels good to have our team get a victory, there may not be many this season but there is hope for next season. Maybe the Fighters can get back on track to their opening season where they made it to the Championship Game.
Contract negotiations seem to be going pretty good. Twenty six players have resigned for another season, hoping that next season could be the one. Several other players are still working contract negotiations, more meetings scheduled with the owner. Four of the Fighters are almost positive they will not be returning as they have rejected the contract offers sent in their direction. Comicfanman has a lot of work to do to make sure they have a solid team before the start of next season. We can honestly say - there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Stay Tuned....

Wow another head shaker for Saipan. Players are getting very skeptical on the way the team is being run. New Defensive Coordinator tried his best to defend against the run and still struggled, with the defense having too many missed tackles again. The Growas showed they still have what it take to win games. This season teams with a losing record may have a chance to make the playoffs. Five teams have pulled away from the rest of the Zeta Conference. The FFLivewire Cans are still on the road to a perfect season and their first Championship.

With seven games left it is time to really find some lucky clovers for the Saipan Fighters. It is going to take a miracle for them to have a shot at the playoffs this season. "Don't count us out" comicfanman claims, "remember our first season we won the last eight games to sneak into the playoffs and get to the Championship Game". So anything is possible, just not likely this season. To be determined at each game.
Contract negotiations are still underway at the Fighters headquarters. DT GLUTIUS MAXIMUS THE TITE 1 has decided this will be his last season, he is hanging it up to retire in Rome somewhere. Three of the starters for Saipan are demanding more from the Fighters and are on the fence on whether the will sign or not. A couple of back ups are holding out also for better contracts as well. The biggest news would be that of six of the Fighters have yet to report to scheduled meetings with the owner to discuss contracts. This could be a nail bitter for the Fighters.
Good news for the Fighters - they have verbal commitments from three new players to join in their fight for next season. And a new QB Dirty Wheels signed the dotted line to help back up Dylan Salisbury for the rest of the season and hopes to compete for the starting job next season. Things seem to be coming together.
Next game look for Saipan to finally get the rushing defense together to stop the any further huge rushing games. And rumors have it that if they get a shutout new Lexus vehicles will be given to each member of the defense. This is a rumor but you know how things go in the PROs. The Jakarta Men O' War want to get their second win of the season and there is a glimmer of hope here. Can they pull off an upset or go down in flames. They already have major problems in the locker room with constant bickering and fighting over who is playing an who is not, many players just sitting the bench collecting a check while the others continue to take the beatings on the field. This will be an interesting game. We pick Saipan to do something special here and come out 42-3 in this one. Stay tuned....

Big News Brisbane Heat brought the heat today and put one on the FFLivewire Cans. The Cans went into the game pretty confident, but the earth shook and that's all she wrote.
Saipan Fighters pull out a win as predicted by the league. The fighters showed a little bit of a running game and actually stopped the opponents running game. That is what the Fighters need to do for the rest of the season, if they stop that run they may have a chance. With that win Saipan's hope of making the playoffs are still alive. It is hard to believe but they have been here before in season one. And surprised everyone in the AAA League by making the championship game.
The last games are not stacked in the Fighters favor with a combined record of 37-23 it will be a tough task. Facing two of the best this season in the Heat and Caninites and then two tough games versus the Gods and the Ahua. Nothing is for sure in this league but the best chance of a win will be against the Marauders who are in a rebuilding season. And then in the last game of the season facing the East Coast Tide who are fourth in the Alpha Conference. The Fighters are only favored in two of the games so they are going to have to dig deep. Next test will be the gun slinging Tongan Crimson Auha. Stay tuned...

Another tough loss for Saipan. They did however hold the Auha below their season average 291 yards passing, so something positive came out of the game. The newly acquired kicker Noon got plenty of practice today going 3-4 in FGs. But not much happened, the running game went back into hiding and the passing game was on but they did not throw enough to make a difference in the game.
Comicfanman is more worried about getting through the season injury free and bringing in some key talented players to secure those positions he will be hurting at in their depth charts next season. The departure of key starters has comicfanman scrambling. It is rumored that a veteran SS, DT, and OG will be joining the team for season 5.
The Fighters have not totally given up on the playoffs, but it is looking very bleak after the loss today. They need to put some touch down drives together to have a chance. Stay tuned....

It seems to be a quite day in Goal Line Blitz this morning. More tweaks being done mid season and I'm sure more complaints to follow. The Saipan Fighter home front has been disruptive. Team mates are rallying against the guys not returning and those who have not signed as of yet. There seems to be those who hold out until the very end and it makes roster filling a tough ordeal. Hopefully we will see some action in the roster and the contracts get settled before we head into the off season.
Saipan's mid season scrimmage game is today against the powerful Galapagos Guardians from the South American Pro League. Another wrinkle for Saipan and other teams this season with practice game confusing players and coaches a like. It looks to be a more than Saipan expected after looking over the Guardians roster. The Fighters will have their hands full today, but should be good experience for the coaching staff. Meetings are being called for with the league administrators about the mid season scrimmages. There are now post season scrimmages, pre season scrimmages and now mid season scrimmages. The Saipan owner is wanting to opt out of the scrimmages during the post season and mid season scrimmages, "Why can't we be like the NFL in this respect?" exclaims comicfanman.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!
SAIPAN FIGHTERS UPSET THE GALAPAGOS GUARDIANS 9 - 7!!!!
Saipan's mid season scrimmage game against the powerful Galapagos Guardians from the South American Pro League ended with complete drama. With 15 seconds left in the final quarter the new Kicker Lyds Noon nails a 31 yard field goal to seal the game. This drama filled game had the Fighters' fans biting their nails from the kickoff. The Guardians lined up for a 24 yard field goal on their first drive and kicker Andre Kristacovitchlalinski Jr. shanked it. In a defensive battle to be remembered the only score came with 23 seconds left in the first half by a 34 yard field goal by kicker Lyds Noon to put the Fighters up at halftime 3-0. The Saipan Fighters came out in the second half pumped up and drove down the field and let kicker Lyds Noon have another kick from 40 yards out to put them in a 6-0 lead. The defensive battle continued and just when you thought it might be a shocking shutout by the Fighters the Guardians force their way in for a touchdown with 6:20 left in the last quarter. Could the Fighters make a comeback in the fourth to take the game home? Well we already know from the breaking news that the answer was yes. The earth shook and Saipan has something to say. Watch out Oceania Pro League we are here to stay!!!

We had a fire in the news room. We will be off to repair the building and the printing press. Saipan Fighters did get a good win against the worst team in the league and have four tough games to go. Will they go 8-8 and sneak into the playoffs? It doesn't look likely. Stay tuned....
