Yeah - clear the cheaters from the Hall of Fame! (No personal reason, uh, I just think that would be good generally).

Game will come to an immediate halt if that's done. Probably half the current teams are built with people running dead accounts. Lots of people turned over their passwords and told folks to run them until they were out of flex. Get rid of those I'd wager half the player population is gone.

Roll it over and give us an extra day or 2 on the other side. That will give us an extra day or so to get training, boosts and whatever else done. Season would start after Christmas too.

To which I'd reply: "So what?"

Bort knows it's happening, and people do it because they've self-justified it's ok to cheat, Bort should just reduce the cost for flex and give everyone a 1-time 'amnesty' to consolidate accounts (including flex) and then enforce the multi cheating going forward. Same income would still be generated. I mean, I know it'll never happen, he likely doesn't have the time/interest/funds to enforce, but it should happen. It's like damn near everything in life nowadays, half the population justifies their cheating for whatever reason soothes their ego; "the game is too expensive", they want to make 100 dots for 5 teams, "everyone else is doing it", etc.. Like slipping a multi onto a competitor's team is difficult, which makes everyone have to just assume their are competitors on their team, and therefore owners/GMs share no info with the other agents on the team about team strategy or anything, making it less fun for everyone. Meanwhile all the top agents/teams wonder why the game is dying and new users join and flame out so quickly. It's just sad to see in a 20-year old game with presumably an average user age of 40+. But hey, I'm just one of the nobodies who have only had 1 account since joining in 2008 and have only made ~50 dots total. I don't keep the lights on here. Just soapboxing.

I believe they said it was ok if flex was bought on the account and the original agent left the game since it was paid for flex, but not if it was a freebie that was created as a multi

Part of the issue with new players joining is that there isn't a good wiki page anymore. There is the web archive -but how many new players will research that?

Oh they could go through the forums and spend hours looking for ideas, but will they?

Plus another issue is that when new players do join human led teams, there are already multiple players at their positions. More players and favoritism, means less playing time for their dots. Since it's a game, you want your players to achieve - how do they do that? by stats... and the game is all about stats.. how many sacks, how many yards etc.

In real life, for example, NFL players are seen as successful because of the stats they achieve -mostly. A pass rusher defensive end is judged on his sacks and tackles etc. If he doesn't get many, he gets moved on. Sure, you do get offensive linesmen elected to the hall of fame, but thats to do with the pro bowls, all teams etc. they don't have stats otherwise.

When i re-joined this year, I joined human teams, and then realised it just wasn't fun anymore. So now, they are all on CPU teams, and get playing time, according to their stamina, plus the competition for places is low... why would I want my DE to be on a team with 4 other DEs, and get reduced played time, reduced sacks, tackles and engage in office politics. It's easy if you run or GM a team, to adjust the settings so that players you favour get more action and others less.

Sure, there are plenty of people who like the warp and woof of dealing with other online people, being part of a team, the fun of it. I understand that. But it's also frustrating as well.

But the essential point is that for this game to continue - it has to make money for Bort. He's not running a charity. So flex needs to be purchased. Why would a new player want to buy flex if his dots don't do anything or don't get him satisfaction? He doesn't know that his dots can play on CPU teams and rack up high stats -unless it's clear - so he plays on human led teams, and gets bored.

Abolish the free player concept

So if you do that. Why should a new player want to join at all? with no wiki, no information. Look at the big online games -how do they do it? you create free players and you increase them by buying things or grinding. No free players, no incentive to want to play. its a stat game as well. The question is how do you suck in new players - who will then want to spend money.. they create free players then spend money, not spend money first.

And increase flex prices again to the old format with 300,200,100 per position group

I think the issue is more players not increasing prices...

They said multis are the problem, then remove the number one reason why people create multis in the first place

I wonder how many people have multi accounts ....I suspect if it was possible, by restricting accounts to one IP address (but pretty easy to defeat surely via VPN?) then the player base would shrink by maybe a third... thus further hastening the end of the game.

I would love for them to create a realistic pay for play model as too many left due to cost / enjoyment. There are so many accounts that are paid accounts kept alive by owners who have moved on and it is sad. A few come and go but most are gone for good.

The pay model was an excellent one when the game began but without 10K teams and countless options for owners (new and old alike), it is simply too expensive combined with not enough teams.

Would be nice to have a pay model to run a full team for 12 months but I doubt anything new will happen at this point.

It's been one heck of an enjoyable game in any case. I leave it all in Borts hands at this point where he wants this game to go and how it wants it to work. I am surprised he has kept it going this long.

Let's get the new season going in any case!
